behind on the pet usage for locks

so during BC my lock was my main and for wrath I re-rolled a Paladin. Took forever to get my warlock to 80 but now he is, and I haven't been keeping up on all the warlock changes since he's just a profession alt but I've been thinking going back to him for my main however I'm confused on why Blizz doesn't allow us to Sacrifice our pets anymore for increased damage? Like back in BC it was typical in a raid to sacrifice the Succubus for increased Shadowbolt damage or Sac Imp for fire damage.

Anyhow, curious on why we can no longer do this... I hate having a pet out for pve and want to kill it.

sorry for the wall of text

thanks in advance!

Re: behind on the pet usage for locks

Because too many people were just sacing their pets and not using them. Blizzard didn't want a lock to have to spec into the demonology tree just to sac their pet. It's called the demonology tree for a reason ( not the sac for buffs tree ).

A demon pet is also one of the defining features of a warlock versus a mage. It was kind of silly to have a spec where you would never have a pet out

Re: behind on the pet usage for locks

Blizz is working on getting the pets to buff us while they are alive, not in death. Right now the best example is the Imp buffing Destro dps through Empowered Imp. 3.3 was looking like it was going to do the same with the Felhunter for Affliction but they since yanked all that out, but who knows. And the Felguard is still the pet for Demo as far as I know.

I love my Felguard, At level 72 I was able to solo "Alystros" for the group quest "The Plume of Alystros" a 74 Elite with 118k HP.

Felguards Rock!

Personally i would say the best example would be the Felgaurd buffing the whole raid with Demonic pact haha.

A warlock to me was never a warlock with just SB spam and no pet. Now if a warlock doesn't have his pet out his dps will suffer. I mean, even the tier 9 set bonus is aimed at pets buffing us

Personally i think the reason blizzard did this was so we aren't just another mage. Its just not as demonic to summon a pet then kill it for self gain. I love my pets

I like it better when they scream.
