Pet on aggressive
Hello.
I hope this question isn't too silly, but when i put my pet on aggro, what does that exactly do? i mean, will it attack any mob near me? if so, how close? will the pet only attack mobs that are not grey to me, or all mobs? if i put the succubus on aggro, will it just do lash of pain, or try to seduce first, or something else? and, is there anything else important about aggro that i should know about that i haven't mentioned so far. hmm, thats about it. thanks. :D |

your pet will attack anything within a 20-30 yard radius. i'm not sure of the exact distance though. it's a bad idea to have your pet set on aggressive as it will brong unwanted adds your way. there are only 2 times i've intentionally set my pet to aggressive. once in Uldaman fighting the scorpions and the other in Zul'Farak fighting all the worshipers. otherwise you should set your pet to defensive/passive and get used to pressing ctrl+1.

When I am farming in a much lower area, or helping out a much lower level friend, I let my succubus off her leash. She runs around killing everything in sight. I think the aggro radius works just like ours where, if something is much lower level, she will aggro from farther away. She was runs around killing EVERYTHING. I just sit in the middle of the area and sip my tea.

Aggressive can be useful if you are pulling the mobs to you instead of sending your pet out after the mobs. It can also be useful in PvP+ areas (especially when trolling for stealthers with a void or fel).
The only pet that I don't put on aggressive sometimes is the succubus. She's just too useful as an ace in the hole. |

I'm curious Azadon, do you get loot when your pet does all the killing though? was testing it out with a Hunter friend the other day, and if either pet did 100% of the damage, we didn't get the ability to loot. Same thing happens if our pet does 100% of the damage on XP mobs... np XP

I think if you get any exp or loot from the pet doing all the damage it will be from a bug. Just think how easy it would be to level if you could just let your pet do all the work while you watch TV. I seem to remember necro's doing this in EQ before it was fixed, I could be wrong though.

there's no way your pet could survive a 1v1 fight with anything that gave you decent experience. imp and succubus don't have enough hp to survive a real fight and VW and felhunter don't do enough damage to kill before they get killed.
