if you try to kill things as fast with your VW as other pets you're not using him effectively. always send him in first or make sure he taunts around your first curse/corruption. then play it a little slower than usual. space out your DoT's out by an extra second, at least immolate. if you try to kill as fast as you do with your other pets will draw agro off the VW.

At level 20 (Demonology Spec) I find it almost impossible to draw aggro off the ole Blueberry - Curse/Corrupt/Immolate - then Shadow Bolt to death, or just sit and wait - either works well

If you are not spec’ed Demonology, then you will pull aggro off your Voidwalker very easily. When I have used my Voidwalker in the past, I usually send him in, let him get a few hits in and start dropping my dots and using my drains last. Your drains generate a ton of aggro.

My only tip is to turn autocast for the AoE taunt off.

Save it for when there are actually multiples or when you need an extra taunt.

Starting around level 40 I actually had to time my spells to insure that I didn't pull mobs off Big Blue (hereforth referred to as BB).

I've found that in situations where a lot of damage is being dealt or multiple mobs are going to be an issue, BB has come in handy where my other pets weren't quite as useful (especially AE Taunt).

One of my favorite uses of BB is to fool other players. Ever had that silly guy going to gank you because he's like "Oh, stupid warlock has that big blue dude out, I'm so gonna gank him"? So you sic BB on him while he's coming for you, sac him when he's up close (sacrifice), then proceed to hand him his corpse?

I admit it - I LOVE it!

I still use BB situationally, but unless it's a really big mob and I need a tank (where other pets don't have the HP/AC to hold on at all) or there are a lot of little mobs that I need to AE Taunt, I just don't see most of the point of using him.

I'm an Affliction (31), Demonology (5), Destruction (15) Warlock on a PvP server (so I do not have improved VW).

My preferred method of fighting is succubus drain tank fighting (pull mob off succubus when the succubus is at around 50% health) or fear kiting w/ imp.

heh. i finally got 2/2 Master Summoner. i wanted to try my VW theory for getting ganked. so i ran around Winterspring with him out waiting to get jumped. low and behold a warrior rushes me when i'm not looking. so i immedietely sac the VW, click Fel Domination and pop out the succubus. i proceeded to wail on the warrior with DoTs and drain life until iwas back to full. then fear kite him to death.

Affliction/Demonology hybrid is looking more and more appealing...

I love my VW. I have 2/3 Improved Voidwalker, and it's hard for me to take aggro. I imagine when I get 3/3 it will be almost impossible (unless I'm chaincasting searing pain). I think of the voidwalker pet comparable to the earth pet for mages in EQ.
