Succubus tatics

i have tons of sta, which means i have tons of hp, i tend to drain tank while the wench whips my targets and shreds them..... as a side result, i tend to use less mana when using her than i do with ole blueberry, so kill rate is maximized

I find she is good in pve situations where there is another player(s) to hold aggro. She cant fill the VW shoes while solo. Unless you want want to do the tanking as mentioned previously. However, the two things she brings to the fight are seduce and dps. Her higher dps is a no brainer. When fighting humanoids, often group members like when i seduce pull. This lets you avoid immediate aggro and also determines which mobs are linked so the group can deal with them (with the seduced on on deck so to speak).
Now where i think she shines is pvp. Pvp is fast, so your highest dps is desirable. Seduce is usefull in so many situtions it would take pages to detail them all. A couple examples i personally have experience with are: 1) after a Cheap Shot (rogue) can do anything else for 4 sec., but i can seduce and make sure the enemy cant either. 2) When fighting paladins you can catch them before the DS and heal with seduce to set up fear in hope to put their lights out before it happens. Ive found (and read advise to paladins) that DS is used at about 1/3 health. So i try this just before.

Succubus tatics

I use the Succubus exclusively. I try to kill the mob as fast as I can. Usually for me, the Voidwalker does not do enough damage and I find I will eventually generate aggro from my dots and/or debuffs. I do not have Imp VW yet.

The Succubus IMHO is ten times better then my VW, unless you plan on killing slow and spacing out your damage so you do not get aggro or don’t want to get hit. Since I already plan to get aggro, I would rather use a pet that will dish out a ton of damage to help me kill the mob the fastest, which is the Succubus.

My tactic is this…
I only use lash of pain when I am soloing and turn off Soothing Kisses. I have Imp CoW and I cast that first. Then I send in my Succubus, drop Immolate, and Corruption. If you are high enough and have the talent Siphon Life, cast that too if you need the extra life drain. Then I just sit back and either swing my sword/staff or fire a few wand blast while the mobs beats on me. When I drop below 80% health, then I use drain life to gain my life back. The mobs are usually close to death or dead at that point.

I find I can kill more mobs faster with the least amount of mana per kill.

Soloing with Succubus = drain tanking. What I do exclusively when I solo.

I didn't start doing that until level 25, though. At that point I had enough talent points invested in Fel Concentration to make drain tanking work. Plus I had the stamina to take the hits. It really makes a difference vs. casters, especially when you don't have Curse of Tongues. Higher DPS = less time for them to nuke you.

People will also tell you that Seduce is great, and it is! But they forget that you don't get Seduce until level 26 while you get the Succubus at level 20. As such, her value is greatly reduced in levels 20-25.

Anyway, try the drain tanking, but remember that it probably won't work very well without the investment in Fel Concentration and some good HP. You may find you have to use VW for a few levels before using the Succubus becomes practical.

My Style is lil different since my HP are lacking but it works.

I send in my hottie and cast Curse of Agony, Immolate, Corruption. At about 60% mob health I cast 2 SB's which draws aggro to me and then I tank down.

I have Demon tree built to where I am starting Holy Power points next (25 spent) so Hottie has the mana and HP to tank for me a bit if I want her to.

Maybe not as efficient but my downtime is limited and I can pull almost constantly. I am going to try the above method of CoW and life tanking too. Just got stuck in this method and never left it.

Succubus Tactics

I personally switch pets often. If I see a greater use for one pet over the other I switch.

So for the Succubus while in a group, I find her most useful for Elite/Boss mobs. Otherwise I use the imp.

For solo work, I use her for clearing areas quickly. If I can single pull, I will use her. I have Soothing Kiss turned off, and cast it only if I see her getting beat up too much (50life) Since she is good for DPS then I make sure to use as many dots as possible. The quicker the mob goes down the less damage she takes. Useally with 4 dots I will gain agro.
Knowing I will take agro I try to keep my distance so we can play ping pong with the mob.

Also don't be scared to Fear a mob. With 3 dots, and you blasting with SB or Wand, mob should go down fast, and neither you or Sucubus will take much damage, if any.

Succubus tatics

I agree with most of what is posted here.

The most effective way to use the succubus is either with a group, or with a draintank build. I cast my spells a little differently, though.

First is pet attack: Get her a bit of aggro. She can take a bit of a beating.

Second is Corruption: I have two points in Nightfall at level 34 and I want them instant cast shadowbolts to proc soon and often against mobs way bigger than me. Not neccessary against things level to level+2... nor even practical, but FUN! Who doesn't like instant cast SB's?

Third is Curse of Agony: Again, on level to level+2, this should probably be first as it does more damage as time progresses and it lasts the longest.

Fourth is Immolate: This is last for two reasons. A lot of people would have this cast first (because of the cast time,) but, by the time you cast this your succ should have gotten two lash of pains off and has some good agg left. If you cast this third, even if it crits, the Succy should hold agg for a bit longer. The second reason is that it lasts for the shortest duration and you want to get in the habit of making sure that this is still ticking on things that like to run.

Fifth is Lifetap: Once or twice, depending on how much mana you have left. If you came into this fight fresh, once should be enough. Improved lifetap helps here.

Sixth is Drain Life: Between the pause as you cast immolate and the quick lifetap, your succy should still hold aggro through at least the first third of this spell and your succubus should be in fairly bad shape by now. Life Drain has a great dps and it heals you, obviously. Adding this to your three DoTs is the deal sealer. That mob should be heading your way soon.
Fel concentration is a must.

Seventh (optional) Shadown Bolt: Inevitably, with nightfall, your instant cast SB is gonna proc once or maybe twice (or more.) If I am in conservation mode, I reign myself in and keep with the Lifetap / Drain Life one two combo to finish the fight. If it's go time and the sucker has to die now, I wait till drain life has finished and chase that green line with a SB as often as they proc. Normal Shadow Bolt is all but useless to a drain tanker in most cases by the time you reach your thirties.

And that's it. I keep fear in reserve for real hard hitting mobs and fear kite with drain life / life tap.

And the single biggest tip I can give to Warlocks that I never see them do in combat is this:

If you have lifetap (no matter if it is improved or not) and you finish a fight with a full bar of health but short on mana. LIFETAP AT LEAST ONCE. By doing this, you are dramatically increasing your mana regen rate. You will, in effect, have two bars regening your mana rather than one. Full health with nothing to fight is doing you no good, ballance those two bars out and let them both regen.

Succubus tatics

i pretty much exclusively use my succubus too, and i solo alot on a pvp server...so she's awesome. what works well for me is, i usually keep lash of pain turned off...send suc in manually have her LoP to secure her aggro on the mob. cast curse of elements, imolate, corruption. after that i either sb or searing pain depending on how fast i need the mob dead, and by the time either of those lands the i've effectively taken aggro from my suc, so soon as the mob starts to run for me i fear and sb or searing pain or wand. when fear breaks i recast repeat. this method will cause you some downtime but it gets mob dead quik. wich is great since people have the tendency to jump you while fighting mobs. and yeah, i'm a destruction 'lock...but you've got alot great responses, a few of wich i'll be trying out myself.

Succubus tatics

At level 20, the Succubus is a little harder, and I didn't really notice much difference in grind time between VW+Curse of Agony and Succubus+CoW. At level 45, Succubus+CoW is much faster than VW+Curse of Agony, in my opinion anyway. The Succubus is also a much better mana battery than the VW. I rely pretty heavily on CoW helping sustain the Succubus over long runs.

At level 45 - Affliction Spec
If I don't need to pull -
- Pet attack
- CoW
- After 2nd Lash of Pain or Succubus crit, Immolate
- Corruption
- Siphon Life
- Life Tap
- Wand
- Wand
- Immolate
- Wand
And mob is usually dead or pretty close to death

Have to pull -
- CoW
- Pet Attack
- After 2nd Lash of Pain or Succubus crit, Immolate
- Corruption
- Siphon Life
- Life Tap
- Wand
- Wand
- Immolate and wand if mob isn't dead

I usually get aggro shortly after Life Tap unless the Succubus gets some crits in, which she seems to be getting a lot of lately. If I need a little mana, a couple of Darkpacts after the battle. By the time I get to the next mob, both the Succubus and I are pretty much at max health/mana. If I get an Add, I Amp CoW on the add and load it with dots and then attack whichever one is closer to death with Drain Life usually. 2 Mobs with Corruption almost always results in Nightfall proc'ing. Even 3 same level mobs at a time isn't uncomfortable, but I will have to drink afterward. Throw in Shadowbolts when Nightfall procs and a Death Coil every 10 minutes and you can grind em up at a very nice clip.
