Instances or when to use what pet....

Hello,
I apologize if this has been posted before, but I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on pets to use in the higher-level instances.Ã‚ (Scarlet Monastery and above).

I understand that VW is good if there is no tank, but when is Imp or the Succubus better?Ã‚ What about the Felhound?Ã‚ Is there any real use for the Felhound?

I appreciate any advice offered.

Felhunter is actually one of the best pets(in my opinion, only second to the imp ol). But felhunter is mainly for farming or instance with mainly casters, since he has more durability than succi, and more damage than Voidwalker. Imp is best in most instances, since phase shift relieves the paranoid groupies "Lolz pet pull mob". Voidwalker is great if you need to take out two mobs(i used him doing dreadsteed quest, when you needed the heart), but not great for instances, since he doesnt keep the aggro off those mages to well. Succi is great since invis and damage, but im affliction so i could use the mana : )

I agree with the previous response - felhunter is a great support pet and nice against casters, but most groups seem to prefer the damage and stamina buffs the imp provides. The succubis is really nice for when you have no mage and need to take that caster out of the fight using seduce (like in Scarlet Monastery Cathedral section).

Can't believe i forgot about mentioning Succi seduce!

At the moment im flying to UC to get water from EPL farming(why doesnt lights chapel sell water?...) anyways, its amazing for the groups of two's in tyrs hand. Since i respecced out of Insta-summon, i sadly need to use seduce over spelllock

Affliction still pwns though.

Wow. Thanks for all the great advice. I was a skeptic toward the Felhunter, but used him the other night and was impressed. I also started using my Imp again when there is a tank and realize more value behind him. I reviewed the other post and understand that the choice of pet depends on where there are weaknesses in the group. I am about ready to hit SM so I will see if I can make the right decisions about pets.

Normally I'd just use the imp for stamina buff, but when required I use the VW to hold an ad off the healer as a form of crowd control. Succubus can do this as well in humanoid instances. This is only needed when the rest of the party is not doing their job, but recently this has been needed more and more, especially if you are only 4 in your group.

I used the felhunters devour magic on the green dragon (somnus?) in Swamp of Sorrows recently to dispel his sleep and I bet he'd work as good on Eranikus in Sunken Temple or on other mobs that has nasty magical debuffs.
I also use the felhunter i caster heavy instances like scholomance, since he has both spell lock and gives resists with Master Demonologist.

In raids I use a demoic sacrificed voidwalker for regen or succubus for +damage. I'm usually placed in the "additional dps group", so the imps sta buff is pretty much wasted there and noone expects a warlock to do anything else than dps or banishes anyway.

In DM (east and north) I naturally use an enslaved pet where I can.

Oh btw. Is that succubus in the beginning of scholomance enslaveable?

Yes, the Bloodsteward at the beginning of Scholomance is enslaveable. I don't remember exactly what, but she had some nice skills when enslaved.

I use the Succubus for some added dps and CC, but if we got the dps covered then I bring out my Imp since everyone loves more health.

I might be missing something but I use Succi %99 of the time, whether solo or group. I'm speced 100 demonology and like the damage she deals out. I run damage meter and in groups I usually graph pretty high in the group...which is nice to show people what a Warlock contributes. I have solo'ed with VW when I just couldn't handle the aggro, but recently adding soul link has helped there. I guess I should try Imp and Fel with the meter running just to see if I can still maintain respectable damage.
