Inferno

Alright- Ive been reading some bad things about Infernos- about how hard it is to use them in battles- and such. Is there really a good time to use them? Im on a non-PvP server- and I would like to take the pet for a test drive- but not 100% when would be a good time to do so. My guild wants to take a look at it (there are only three locks on our guild- a level 60 who's hardly on- me a level 55 who's on too much!- and a new one) because some haven't seen one out yet. I know it could only be summoned out side so that kinda narrows it down a bit- maybe Horde Raids?? I donno.... thanks for your input!!

Re: Inferno

Let me be a jerk and the first to say the spell is called Inferno, but your pet is an Infernal.

Anyway, if you get a smaller group (5-10) and look for some PvP action it will shine. In mass PvP they don't last too long as everyone tries to get a piece of it. I would whip it out in a duel or two for straight pwnage. You can use it to farm materials and XP, an excellent PvE pet. I think the only instance it can pop is Zul'Furak.

Re: Inferno

I always grind with my infernal. It simply rocks too much.

To use it effectively you have to stay at the same place for the entire session as moving away from there will cause him to get evasive and despawn when it's time to re-enslave. You have to stay close enough to the spawning point so that you have time to run back there and get aggro again if he should run away from you. There is a time before he despawns where he is acting like a general monster after he has run back to his spawn point in evasive mode.

When diminishing returns on re-enslaves are reinstalled (with next patch) the time you can use him will be shortened to what it was pre 1.8 (15-20 minutes maybe more). Currently there is no limit.

I use him in WPL and Silithus grinding for either Argent dawn or Cenarion Circle reputation.
Together with demonic sacrificed voidwalker the infernal upps my killing rate to atleast twice my normal rate using succubus or (sacced or not) voidwalker.

The Infernal is a situational pet just like our other ones and the infernals place is steadfast grinding. Atleast until they resolve the evasive+despawn bug which is not working as intended.

The doomguard is pretty much the same, other than the fact that it's harder to summon, has lower armor, but has a few nice skills. If I'm bored enough I'll kill elementals in silithus using curse of doom until one pop and then I will use him to grind instead of the infernal. Works much the same, but he needs to be healed from time to time which the infernal mostly doesn't.

Re: Inferno

In pvp. NEVER summon an infernal when outnumbered, and your loose seems at hand. He WILL NOT prevent it, and you will just waste the cooldown and reagent. USE the infernal when your at even terms as your enemy, or at a slight advantage, he will tip the scales totally in your favor.

Use him EARLY in a battle. NOT later. He does ALOT more if you drop him early, and sic him on a priest. Be ready to be focused fired, many good players will IMMEDIATLY look for you to kill joo dead if they see an infernal.

Coordinate with other locks to drop multiple infernals upon your enemies head in AV! Increadibly effective.

Basically he will never allow you to kill a larger number of enemies, then you can normally. He CAN however clinch a fight for you.
PS: There are several potions and an engineer trinket that drastically increase the effectivness of dropping one.

Evil trick: When you see enemies attacking your infernal, rightclick his portrait and Dismiss him. Their next attack should pull the infernals aggro off of you. Now hes pissed at your enemies and killing you wont stop him!
