Increase my chances of enslavement/re-enslavement/demon control?

My question is what can I keep an eye out for that will increase my chances of enslavement/re-enslavement/demon control?

I have been using my Inferal more and more. I love it. I also have become very fond of the HelBoars in the Blasted Lands. Love my flaming Piggy. My current build is Demonology focused and I routinely have my Infernal enslaved for over 1 hour, longest was 90+ minutes (I got careless, my bags were full, no shards and I was not able to re-enslave. The last 23 minutes of that run I had only two shards at any one time).

My current build at level 54 is:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/...50220102000000

Minimum Required Level: 54
Required Talent Points: 45

Affliction Talents - 3 points

# Improved Corruption - rank 3/5

Demonology Talents - 34 points

# Improved Imp - rank 3/3
# Demonic Embrace - rank 5/5
# Improved Voidwalker - rank 3/3
# Improved Succubus - rank 3/3
# Fel Domination - rank 1/1
# Master Summoner - rank 2/2
# Unholy Power - rank 5/5
# Improved Enslave Demon - rank 5/5
# Demonic Sacrifice - rank 1/1
# Master Demonologist - rank 5/5
# Soul Link - rank 1/1

Destruction Talents - 8 points

# Improved Shadow Bolt - rank 5/5
# Bane - rank 3/5

Two more points into Improved Corruption (I seem to use this on every MOB, so I wanted to make it instant), then the rest in Destruction.

So, what equipment / enchantments / anything can I do to improve my enslaving - demon control?

Cheers B)

The only thing that will help you with enslaving at this point is suppression rank 5. It will help you land Curse of Shadows more so that you have an easier time with the enslave process. Unfortunately, patch 1.9 will do away with the 1.5 second enslave cast time that the nemesis set gives, which is really dumb unless they are planning in the near future to reduce the cast time of enslave to 1.5 seconds regardless of what armor you are wearing.

You did all you can. Improved Enslave Demon is the only thing that helps.

OK, I have to ask.

How do you keep an Infernal for an hour?

Is there some secret society that I don't know about?

Seriously, I am apparently totally clueless on how to do this. What spells do you use? When? How is it renewed when it breaks? Do you dismiss it first (i.e., before it breaks)? Banish it a few times before re-enslaving?

Where do I send my membership fee for the "I can Actually USE my Infernal" club?

It's easy to keep an infernal for an hour, though a bit of luck can play in the factor as well. You have to make sure to have lots and lots of shards though for enslaving. Make sure you use Curse of Shadows first though because it helps Enslave Demon land. Another thing that helps, Vector, is to have the CountDoom add-on from Curse Gaming. It gives you a warning sign when your infernal is about to break. So when you get the warning, tell your infernal to stay put and walk back at max range so that you can use COS and Enslave without problems. At the very least, you won't get beat on as long while trying to re-enslave the infernal.

Suppression, Soul Link, Demonic Sacrificed Voidwalker, Improved Enslave Demon, Heavy Mageweave or better bandages, healing potions, healthstone, food/water are all key tools you should have when you are playing with the Infernal if you are dedicated to making the most of your time with him. Banish should be only used if you need to buy time to get distance on your Infernal but generally is not an issue if you have CountDoom.

I love the infernal even though I only got to use him once yesterday when I was doing the Ancient Egg and Saving Sharpbeak quests in the troll city. Me, a rogue and the infernal made it all the way to the altar where Vile Priestess Hexx is. Unfortunately, the infernal went into evade mode somehow when he got caught on some steps but he only broke about 5 times and that troll city is huge. All times I enslaved, he lasted the full 5 minutes but I always made sure COS came first before enslave.

[Edit]Went through all the threads I could and couldn't back up my statement, so I'm retracting it.

Re: Increase my chances of enslavement/re-enslavement/demon control?

I agree with Zargon, I use CountDoom add-on, modified to warn me at 4 minutes 35 seconds, not 4 minutes. I also stand right next to my infernal, 10 seconds before he is going to break, 5 minute mark. Once he breaks, I cast COS, repeat until it is successful, then enslave. If I can get the COS to land, I have always been able to enslave. If he is going to EVADE, it will be right at the beginning and I will not be able to land COS.

If you are in a group, warn them that the infernal is going to break and to stand back. If there is a healer in the group, they can be healing you during the enslavement process, very nice. I have found my groups are very pleased with the infernal performance and are more than happy to put up with the every 5 minute enslavement ritual, usually resulting in jokes about my losing control, "Your kid is throwing a tantrum", "Good thing you have cloth armor", "Ouch, thats going to leave a mark".

I was hoping that there was something that I could do about the EVADE issue. I hate that, either the infernal will just stand there and do nothing and I can do nothing to it or it EVADES, then runs off and I cannot stop it. Grrr.

I have the same EVADE issue with "wild" demons that I enslave.

Any suggestions on who to stop, or at least minimize the EVADE issue would be greatly appreciated.

One thing that I have noticed. I have never had a demon or infernal EVADE in an instance. I have been able to keep my original infernal for a complete ZF run, every time. Hmmmm. Wonder if there is something to that?

Re: Increase my chances of enslavement/re-enslavement/demon control?

Keeping for an hour now is pie, because there're no diminishing returns. You don't need to be prepared at all, just keep re-enslaving.

Though once 1.9 hits it'll be tough again, and 30 minutes will be an accomplishment. You'll need:

Soul Link, Improved Healthstone, Improved Enslave Demon, Demonic Sacrafice, Healing Potions, Heavy Runecloth Bandages, and Demonic Embrace will help a lot.

Stay out of water and large elevation changes when it's time to re-enslave, stay near the original spawn point, hope you get lucky.

Re: Increase my chances of enslavement/re-enslavement/demon control?

What changed with 1.9?

I know that:
# Infernal and Doomguard - Increased armor 10% and damage 30% on both pets.
# Soul Link - This spell can no longer be partially dispelled off the warlock. In addition, Soul Link can no longer be used on non-demon pets.
# Curse of Shadow and Curse of the Elements - These curses can no longer cause resistance to become negative. To compensate, both curses now increases the damage taken from the appropriate schools by a percentage.

Is there something else that changed effecting enslavement? Am I missing something in the above three items?

Re: Increase my chances of enslavement/re-enslavement/demon control?

Well, in 1.8 Diminishing Returns somehow dissappeared in regards to enslaving demons. In 1.9 the supposedly fixed it so that now, after about the 3rd or 4th enslave it will get harder and harder to keep a demon enslaved for the full 5 minutes. After about the 3rd one, the time keeps reducing to the point where it'll break again after as little as 1 sec enslaved.
