Perhaps I am a bit of a n00b, a little history here, I have played mainly melee classes since my old days of DAoC. The only hybrid I ever played was a Reaver and I enjoyed him alot. Playing WoW in the beginning I rolled a rouge and honestly got bored to tears to the point I gave him to a friend to play. I later came back to WoW and rolled a Warlock and can honestly say it is the funnest class I have ever played.

To answer the question, I am a succubus 'Lock all the way. Right now I am at 39 and have improved succubus, fel intellect, fel stamina and unholy power coupled with improved life funnel and improved succubs. She is a killing machine. She chews through mobs much quicker, my downtime is less, that is unless I am taking on mobs 4 levels about me. Right now I am at camp mohace farming leather and she takes the pain and dishes it out. Drain tanking level 42 mobs and farming thick leather.

I agree that it is all about personal preferences and I get odd looks when another lock comes out with a VW, but me and my baby just grin...maybe I have an unhealthy relationship going?

Yes we're Warlocks and we love to do dastardly things, but it can be very confusing and frustrating to see a post for the first time with a new reply, yet you are on page 4. If a post is more than a month old, think before replying to it, if it's more than 6 month's old, make a new post.

I myself have used the VW my whole Lock life, i've tried others but they just don't hold aggro well and can't take adds well at all IMHO. i usually just dot them and sick the VW to get aggro, life tap, drain life, DoT again and life tap, drain life, repeat if necessary and they're dead. If i get more adds i just CoW them and the VW's suffering keeps them on him. i do agree however that the Succubus is much better in PvP as i am on a PVP server but the VW's Sac is nice too.

I think its just more matter of how you want to kill. use succy as pet, you can kill a LOT faster but using VW is a LOT safer. if only kiling one mob, w/ succy, you can almost kill it w/ a few sec. (expecially if you drain tanker, I personally on average kill mobs in less than 10 sec /w succy as pet) but if you get 2 adds or more, you gona have to run. where as if you have a VW, you can still be killing even if theres 2 adds.

Makes for fast grinding, but keep the howl of terror button handy. and your survivability goes up a lot with soul link, she doesn't get hit so you may as well use her health for something.

Uhrm, I don't have the best of equipment but I can easily handle 2 mobs at the time with the succubus out. Might be that Affliction favours her but as long as you keep both the mobs dotted and siphoned from the start nothing can hurt ya in a really bad way...

I'm with you, Mortar. I always favoured xp grinding and farming with my succubus.

I have used mostly VW, but I am going to try her more often when the conditions are under control (ie: I know I won't have to deal with more than 1, or 2 if they are a bit weaker). She crumples fast if I get swarmed, while my VW has tanked 3 or more without too much trouble. If I know I won't get swarmed though, I should try her more. The worst that happens is I need to summon another.

I'm currently 48 demon spec and have to disagree with that comment. I can
handle 2 mobs equal level to +3 level with my succy out without too much of a
problem. 3 equal level are pretty rough but doable. The key to any play
style is utilizing all available tools you have. As a lock we have many tools to
handle multiple adds and kill them.

Other then that I find pet choice tends to be more of a personal preference
then situational preference in the way people choose which they play with.
