Re: Imp at High levels
i really only use my imp at level 54, unless i'm killing fire resistant monsters like infernals. only had to spend 5 or 6 talent points in demonology to get impie dealing 100dmg/sec w/ firebolt, and spent talent points on affliction. the steady fire bolts every second interrupt your enemy so they don't have much chance to send anything your way before they die and quick oozing feiry death.

Re: Imp at High levels
In bigger raids, a warlock with improved imp 3/3 almost always goes in the main tank groups to give the +53 stamina buff from blood pact. As a matter of fact, in Molten Core, I leave the imp on phase shifted/passive and park it close enough to the tank that he keeps the buff while I hang out in the back and lob shadowbolts. Giving the main tank more health will make life easier for the priest/druid/paladin/shaman in the group. Not to mention it equates to more mana for me through lifetap.
But in battlegrounds, adventuring or farming, I use my succubus or felhunter 98% of the time. |

Re: Imp at High levels
Interesting replies. When you say you mostly use Imp, I assume that means you mostly group ? I have not cast my Imp in a long time even though Im all demonology. So, last night I was solo'ing some level 47 mobs, same level as myself, and thought I'd pull out Imp just to see what I was missing. He hit the mob with 2 or 3 fireballs and then I really was solo while he laid on his back with little x's where his eyes use to be
No thanks, I was glad to have Aelynn (succi) back by my side after that. B) |

Re: Imp at High levels
At 49, the only time I use my imp is when doing instances if I want the +STA/-AGGRO buff (seldom) or when I'm farming really low-levels (like killing level 7 Darkhounds to gather cooking materials).
It never ceases to amaze me when I play AB and see some Warlock with his Imp. Yeah, he can interrupt spellcasting, but he runs out of mana fast and is kind of a one-trick pony (plus he is really a one-shot kill). |

Re: Imp at High levels
I use my imp mostly on raids. The extra hit points can make a difference. Also if you don't have a Druid in your group, the fire shied also helps. The main reason though is because casters need to stay at range to avoid the mobs/boss AoE damage. The succubus, VW, and Felhunter all have to get into melee range to do damage, which causes them to die very quickly, the imp does not. The imp is the only other pet that cast a group buff besides the Fel Hunter’s stealth detection.
