devour magic

hey guys what's the key to using devour magic? i rarely use my felhunter aside from pulling casters and in BG's on occasion, and usually just for the spell lock and stealth detection. i think devour is auto cast but i've never noticed if he actually removes a buff or debuff. i had the same problem with my succy and seduction so i took everything off autocast and left click on sed. will i have to do the same thing with devour magic?

No you don't need to turn off autocast, your felhunter does indeed devour magic if he finds something to devour, but it doesn't usually do it the smartest way, so if you can manage to micro it, turn off autocast and do it yourself.

You may want to look at installing servitude and binding petaction1 to a commonly used key. It works better than autocast devour. I think autocast devour just removes buffs from targets and magical effects from the felhunter.

Ya I don't tend to use my puppy very often either, but I would like to practice more. Do any of you have some good targeting macros that you use?

If memory serves, you are correct on devour statement, I'd also like to add if you bind a key to petaction1; make sure it's not a key that you press often by accident; you woudn't like to waste devour cooldown in pvp.

An alternative to installing servitude, if you dont want to install
it, is to bind the pet action inside WoWs keybinding.

does this mean that you can have a binding or 'macro' that will (in one key stroke) target you and devour off or you?

That is correct, awesome macro for PvPing. I can't see my WoW atm, but for memory it's something along the lines of :

/script TargetUnit("player"); CastPetAction(4); TargetLastEnemy();

The (4) being what ever slot the Devour Magic is on your pet's hotbar.

There's a Warlock Macro thread in the User Interface and Macros, not sure how out of date it is though...
