Idea for level 70 Pet

I doubt it would happen, but I had an interesting Idea for a level 70 warlock pet that also happens to fit in well with the Burning Crusades and Warcraft 3. This is all assuming that we get more than just the flying mount

As you know, once you hit level 50, the warlock pets become more and more dangerous. The infernal arrives under your control but eventually breaks free and attacks you, The Doomguard arrives really angry with you and you have to race to gain mastery over it. My idea for the level 70 pet Is that upon summoning this pet, the warlock instantly dies.

The pet would be a Phoenix (The Bloodelf summoned pet from Warcraft 3 - see the tie in?) and once the warlock dies and the phoenix is born, the lock gains full control over the pet.

It would have increased Fire resistance, and fire damage, plus a range of fire spells with which to use. However, just as in Warcraft 3, it is slowly burning its self away, so you only get it for 5 minutes total. As in all warlock pets, this pet would be a specialty pet, as in not too effective against creatures immune to fire, but excellent against other creature types.

If the Pheonix dies on its own, without being killed by a mob, the Warlock would then be reborn. However if a mob kills said Pheonix, the lock would have to go to the grave. This part ties in with the mythology of the phoenix.

What do you all think? I personally think it would be a wicked cool pet with just the right amount of danger/risk to it that would be fitting a level 70 pet.

Re: Idea for level 70 Pet

The best idea i've heard for a level 70 pet. I just really hope Blizzard has thought of something cool for us besides another pet we won't ever use. I really like this idea. I'd take Demonform though as an alternative. Which do you guys think would be better? Demonform like Illidan in WC3 or the Phoenix? Thoughts on powers and such?

Really nice idea Though I don't see phoenix and warlocks mix that well, but it's excelent idea.

I think it sounds frickin awesome! Although it's a good point that there isn't really a tie between phoenixes (phoeni?) and warlocks. Maybe some kind of twisted dark phoenix?

Anyway, neat idea

Angry Re: Idea for level 70 Pet

hmm...(I see it in another way) What would happen if you have a soulstone on you? Do you fight with the phenoix? I think its pretty dumb to have it fight alone...also to summon him is bitch because it wont be that easy it never is. tell me what you think?

Interesting point, Perhaps rather than taking control over the pheonix, the lock dies and has to be revived by either a SS or by having somebody revive him and then gain control over the phoenix. Though that may make it very tedious and possibly end in a great many party members deaths before the lock is revived and able to enslave.

Also though there isnt much connection between a warlock and a pheonix, I would point out that as far as WoW goes the lock is the only class that would be able to have a pet such as a pheonix. It doesnt fall within the hunters pet realm. I have to say i stick with the original idea i posted earlier. If only Blizzard could make it a reality

Re: Idea for level 70 Pet

I like your idea of becoming the demon, though I would rather become a more traditional sort of demon instead of a demon-phoenix. I'd also like a demon that can be used in pvp and pve, so something I could use on a raid that wouldn't turn on the raid.

How about summon the demon, just as you said, but the warlock collapses to the ground, and the demon appears, strong, powerful, mighty, and can live for only 2 minutes. I as a player would become the demon. I imagine casting the summon spell, I transform into this powerful demon, and say it's a boss fight, killing Nefarian or something, and in the same idea that warriors can execute in the last 20% of a mobs health, this demon would do so much damage and only live 2 minutes, that you as a raid warlock would only cast this pet the last 20% of a bosses life anyway. I would want insta-cast spells that I can immediately cast as I run from my original location into melee range. Then do some serious awesome melee damage and continue insta-casting.

After 2 minutes, the demon dies, and the warlock automatically resurrects at 10% life and health, completely drained from the ordeal. It would also be cool if the demon-presence inspired the party with a buff that gave the whole party some sort of bonus. "Demonic Madness" or something with a 50 stam buff and maybe something else. That way if you're the warlock in the MT group your raid doesn't complain about you intending to go demon on that boss.

I'd like to see a shadow imp as a new pet, instead f granting extra HP for your party he increases spell damage.
