Doomguard

Okay, I've read the write ups, and I got 5 friends to come help me hunt down the Doomguard commander. However, we couldn't even get close to him. Has Blizz increased the concentration of Felguard in Tainted Scar and/or increased the aggro radius?

Re: Doomguard

probably not, it was always a tough one to get done, especially with 2. involved alot of deaths, soulstones, rezzes and grab and runs to get a spell I've never ever used once.

Re: Doomguard

Well I'm pretty sure there is more than one Commander in the area so if you can't get to one try looking for a different mob. I did the entire questline solo from start to finish just last week so it's still possible to get to the commander. Just remove your gear and be prepared to die lots before you can get in a decent position to res safely and attempt the capture.

Re: Doomguard

I decided that the shear fact that the ritual of doom sacrifices a random player (quite possibly the warlock) was enough reason for me not to get this. However, from time to time, when I am bored, I go to the low level wolves/bears (or even deeprun tram rats) outside IF or SW and Curse of Doom them and wait 60 secs to see if by chance I can summon one. I would say, every so often (15 tries or so) I get lucky and the doomguard is summoned. I enslave and run back into the city (this usually gathers alot of interest, as most folks rarely see a doomguard). Wait for enslave to drop, than everyone around kills him (usually before I can re-enslave)!

Once in AV, I place CoD on one of the Horde's Lieutenants and low and behold, he appeared. That was kinda cool, but when I was commanding him to fight, I quickly discovered he is a weakling and he died rather quickly.

One thing to note, you cannot take the Doomguard in and out of instances...on one occasion while I had him enslaved, WSG popped up and when I entered BG he was gone. Also, if you CoD a Deeprun Tram Rat, you can't take him out of the Deeprun Tram.

So to wrap all this up, Doomguard is cool for show and tell, but other than that I wouldn't bother.

Re: Doomguard

I'm currently 54, can't wait to reach 60, but I think this is one spell that I might put on the backburner

I definitely want to get all the spells available, but in my humble opinion Infernal is much better than the Doomguard (unless you're running through a bunch of Neutral people you don't want to aggro

I absolutely hate the 60 minute cooldown on the Infernal, it's bad enough that we have to enslave him after 5 minutes and on top of that the reageant costs money...nothing terribly significant, but enough to put a small dent in your cash supply if you're saving up for something

Ah crap, I'm going off topic...yeah, I can see myself having a lot of fun with the Doomguard...but even on some of the Warcraft lore that I read the Infernal is more powerful hehe (although that was from wikipedia...a none-too-reliable source sometimes)

One thing on Doomguard...I've done this with Infernal with SOME success...Doomguard might be more fun in some situations
Like people stealing herbs from me (happened) and I summon Doomguard and run...hehehe...although, it's definitely not as easy a summon as Infernal, so I might have Buttercake do my dirty work for me

Yes, I named my Infernal Buttercake...he's my first demon (other than horse...who's just a car to me) that doesn't have a name, so I gave him one

Re: Doomguard

I did this quest just for fun and to try it once or twice. And so I did, in Stormwind, with a lot of lowbies watching/helping/dying.

Expensive, short, weak........ nice for a few situations or when you're bored. If only they wouldn't break so fast!

Re: Doomguard

I just got my Doomguard today. First suggestion is don't waste your time trying to kill your way through the felguard elites in tainted scar, run over to the dark portal, the Doomguards there are pretty accessible. My guild helped me out on this one, we were gonna run a raid to clear mobs in tainted scar to clear mobs, then one of the guildies suggested going over to the portal which turned out to be much easier. I did this quest over like 2 months just kinda gathering the tears from the Winterspring demons when i could, but honestly i have a gripe about the whole thing. THE WARLOCK SHOULD BE IMMUNE FROM THE SACRIFICE. So my guild helped me get this, and after porting back to IF from blasted lands I said "hey, who wants to summon a Doomguard outside IF" so we go...and summon...Epak summons Doomguard...Epak dies. I knew from the onset that this was gonna be a pretty useless minion, whether it was shear bad luck or Blizzard saying "hey we got this badass pet you can summon, but oh no, you'll never get to use it mwhaaahahaha..." i don't know. This is my first post, and I post it here because it seem like you guys aren't as retarded as the whiny @ssbags on the offical forums and i needed to vent :P
