Respeccing and the Felguard Abilities - do we have to repurchase?

Do we have to pay for the felguard's abilities each time we respec?

No, once I speced for him and paid for all his abilities (grimorims), I respeced to Affliction and back again. I found that I did not have to purchase the Grims again he came pretrained already with the same learned abilities.

Most likely its that the felgaurd is a being from another plane would keep the learned abilies he learns from you untill you stop summoning him. Just as you will never see another felgaurd be summoned by you with another name.

For instance: "demon name here" has already learned what you taught him, but regaurdless if you respec he sits waiting to be summoned from what ever plane of existence he's from with that knowledge in hand.

Confirmed, your felguard does not have to relearn grimoires. I specced 4 times in PTR, Affliction, Demonology, Destruction, back to affliction and then back to Demonology. I am loving the spell damage in demonology and it fits my play style.

I've never respecced since they added the Felguard (I'm 15/46/0), and I'm curious about what will happen if I respec because I'll lose the Felguard temporarily.

I know they changed the costs of spells quite a while ago so that upper ranks of talent-based spells are really cheap (e.g., higher ranks of Shadowburn). However, the Felguard's spells are quite expensive even though the Felguard himself is a talent.

So, if you respec and then relearn the Felguard do you get to keep all the spells you previously taught him OR do you have to repurchase all of his spells?

I'm guessing it is the latter, which is rather annoying, but maybe they coded it in a smarter fashion.

In a related note, do you keep the "same" demon if you respec back to Felguard? That is, does the name stay the same?

I would try this out on test, but I'm at work. (I'm tempted to remove my 5 points from Demonic Tactics after playing some last night - I was surprised that the change seemed noticable; actually forgot the nerf went in with the patch and commented in guild chat that it was taking longer for stuff to die... doh.)

You do not have to retrain your pet. He keeps the same levels of his spells. This is in contrast to having to relearn UA, Siphon Life, etc. He also has the same name. Flaathun now, Flaathun forever.

I agree 100% on the respec Dulz and I did that very thing last night. I removed the 5 points from DT and put them over into Affliction.

Of course, I'm 69 now and will respec again when I hit 70, but now I can let the FG tank a couple and Drain Tank another 1 or 2 myself.

If I spec out of demonology and decide that I want my FG back will I have to get all the grimoires for him again?

Ohh and on a second note, if you respec out of any line be it Dest or Affli do you have to retrain the higher versions of the spells that come with the line, for example SB level 2.
