Tellack's Warlock Tips [3.1] Video
I've created an instructional video for Affliction Warlocks in patch 3.1. This video is a follow-up/revision to a previous video I had posted that received a forum spotlight.

This is a great video, thx for sharing. The more help we get the better we can all be. I just wanted to point out one thing that could help a lot. We get such a great bonus from the Life Tap Glyph that waiting to refresh the buff isn't worth it. I use a Rank 1 and a Rank 6 Life Tap in my rotation. I tap with Rank 1 when I don't need mana to give the healers a break and Rank 6 when I do. This refreshes the glyph, but barely drains any health. Otherwise, this is the exact layout and rotation I use and it is working well for me so far. This allows us to get the buff every 20 sec. w/o any major hit to our health. |

That's fine, thanks for the comments! --- Information Added --- Well, what is the current? evaluation of life tapping? I'm hearing many differing responses regarding this... I've heard lifetap should not be a part of the rotation, but it should only be cast when you are out of mana or not able to cast (i.e. moving) I currently cast lifetap when I am out of mana, moving (when Curse of Agony is up), or pre-pull/spawn of an enemy.

video was pretty well done with a few exceptions, life tap SHOULD be a part of your rotation now, including when you are drain exucuting. This does 2 things, keeps the buff up producing a higher dps gain then if you only tap when oom, second it also allows your healers to not focus heals on you since your haunt will heal the damage you take from tapping instead of forcing them to throw a large heal your way. Second thing I saw that would help up your dps is to not let haunt fall off while draining, letting it fall off and having to wait to start draining again is a huge loss, due to range I usually start my haunt cast at 3 secs left so that it refreshes about a second before fall off but that allows me to get back in to draining about 2 seconds earlier which again increases dps. |

Affliction is the odd man out when it comes to lifetapping. Basically, it can go either way. All other specs should use it. |

Liked the video and made the Affliction rotation a little less confusing if you haven't had a lot of practice with it lately.. but isn't it a DPS loss to include life tap in to your rotation rather than just using it whenever you need mana? life tapping every 10 seconds seems to waste a lot of global cooldowns especially as a dot class where those globals are important. Am I wrong on this one? |
