Meta/Ruin Patch 3.1.x guide

I have just written a guide to the Meta/Ruin demonology spec.

It is a narrated youtube video explaining glyphs, talents, macros, ui mods and spell rotations (standard and decimate). It's my first video guide so be gentle.

Its currently only for this spec in raid mode if people find it atall useful I am experimenting with raiding affliction and currently ranking up in arena as destro.

Happy shadowbolting

Re: Meta/Ruin Patch 3.1.x guide

Decimation weaving explanation and demonstration was very good.

I was waiting for the Meta > demon charge > Immo aura demonstration though. You mentioned it in passing but I think its worthy of more focus. Immo aura is huge while in Demon Form, and you can use it twice per Meta with the glyph you have, I don't think you mentioned this.

A good Immo Aura demonstration would make this good video even better.

I am doing the Immo Aura in a diferrent way with Demon Charge.
First i pop my teleport circle in hit range of the mobs/boss. Then i cast Meta, followed by a Life Tap (Glyphed and 4t7.5 Bonus) to raise my SP quite a lot for the Immo Aura casted next, then Demon Charge and start nuking with either RoF or (what i prefer if i have a healer mate keeping eye on me during my meta) with Hellfire. Uber AoE Damage, therefore massive Threat. if the mobs arent dead yet and your Immo Aura ran out, teleport into safe distance. If you aggroed one mob, you and the group/raid have time to either taunt or down the mob.
And yes, with Meta glyph you can do this twice during one meta, so repeat the above.

Best usage of meta i could think of yet.

And: very good vid, keep the good work up :-)

Re: Meta/Ruin Patch 3.1.x guide

Demon Charge is over rated in my opinion. I usually find myself in range of adds or trash enough to use Immo Aura without ever using Demon Charge. On the trash leading to Hodir and on Freya's trash I had times where I was over 9k DPS. Most of the boss fights however do not lend themselves to those fighting techniques. Besides, we're usually moving so fast that I have zero time to set up a teleport/charge battle. Still, Meta/Ruin is a fantastic spec and a lot of fun. If you have a good raid group that can cut the time of the battles way down you will also find meta/ruin fighting for the top of the DPS meter. There is afterall a reason why Ensidia used 2 metalocks in Sarth 3D...go look up the videos. All that trash with all that AOE...WOW.

Re: Meta/Ruin Patch 3.1.x guide

This is a very Nice video for meta/ruin starter. The decimation 1:1 is really well explained.

I got some question :
-if you don't take MC in your build is it really usefull to add corruption in your rotation if you don't have the 2pièce T7 bonus ?
-I'm not sure if meta dynamically buff dot already available on the target. if not why not casting corruption+immolate after meta ?

- As non english people I'm not sure I did understood well the LT approach.
I think I understood you were advising to LT after immolation/corruption ends ? Do you mean we need to LT around 15 sec to maintain mana or is it to keep LT glyph up(which is not advised according to LT FAQ) ?

Re: Meta/Ruin Patch 3.1.x guide

Thank you all for the kind comments .

About the immolation aura I agree it did need covering unfortunately after all the filming and editing I had essentially forgotten about it till the narration. Immolation aura should really be popped whenever you're in Meta form, don't spend too long trying to get into range if it means you spend less time doing damage. Use demonic charge if you are able to.

There are lots of fights where it is very hard to use immo aura effectively but then there are just as many where it can give you a silly advantage. Kologarn is a good example, if you stand under the left arm and dps the right you are hitting all three parts of him. If you try using it in patchwerk though you will likely take a hateful strike .

It's important as well to get back to max range after using it as this makes the decimation rotation easier.

When I made this video I had the 4piece tier 7 bonus so I was lifetapping every 10secs to keep both the glyph and the bonus active at all times (I used powerauras to give an easy visual indication of when they were both up)

Now I have started replacing gear and no longer have the tier 7 bonus I'm finding that lifetapping just before applying the dots is best for timings (with my haste i'm finding that I end up with around 1.0+ secs left on my dots towards the end of a shadowbolt spam this gap is filled nicely by one GCD so I use this time to life tap.)

Re: Meta/Ruin Patch 3.1.x guide

loved the vidio
One thing i like to do when in meta form and after i charge in, is use shadow flame then rain of fire on trash mobs.
the other thing i find useful is be ready to hit soulshatter because you will pull aggro when in this form. All my healers know that when i go meta be ready to throw a heal or two my way because of the aggro you get in that form.

again awesome vidio
