Private Messaging for Den users?
Just a suggestion, and I'd be interested in what everyone thinks of this: Private Messaging for Den users. It's discreet and unobtrusive. I thought we had something in place but my eyes / brain must have been playing tricks on me, as it's happy to do at times. Has there been any thoughts on getting this on the Den at all? Is it unworkable given your time constraints Akasha? Or perhaps a bad idea in general? |

Ok that was weird... the above post is from Vaell / me... Vasscar is my other lock whom I made a Den account with a long time ago but thought it was defunct. Vasscar must be destroyed if you don't mind Akasha... *puzzled*  EDIT: I seem to be having a very odd day with websites today. The armoury was saying earlier that it was last updated in 1970, have a look... very odd. Armoury Update problems... - The Warlocks Den Forums Best I run my virus checks. Private Messaging used to be open, but were closed off. Too many people were discussing things via PM which took it away from the open nature of the forums. Hiding things from other members and guests means less people can benefit from it. People were also going to one person for answers - for example, here everyone might go to Canadianpimp to ask gear questions. That not only then intrudes on Canadianpimp's time here, but he's also not the only one capable of answering questions about equipment. On top of that, other people would benefit from both the question and answers if it was public. The biggest factor however is gold spammers. 25,000 + members being hit with gold ads is not only annoying, but a HUGE drain on my bandwidth, not to mention clogging up the server and this making the site crash or run like a dog for everyone involved. So the short answer is - no private messaging won't be available here. Unlike a guild forum where people want to chat to their friends, this is an open forum for help, assistance and discussions. Everything can be kept out in the open.
