Internet Explorer Users

I've gotten a few emails from members having trouble opening any threads when using Internet Explorer. The error given every time is:

Quote:
"Internet explorer cannot open the internet site [Thread name] Operation Aborted"
There seems to be a problem with IE lately - it's not necessarily my forum, but IE itself. I have asked about this with vBulletin support and a few people running other sites are saying their members are having the same troubles. I am looking into it, to make sure it's not necessarily a setting here, but given it's not just this site giving the errors, I'd be leaning more towards the problem lying with Internet Explorer.

Update:
The problem lies with IE6. Everyone that is having problems is using Internet Explorer 6. The best advice I can give is to upgrade to IE7, or use an alternative such as Firefox. I believe IE6 is no longer being supported, which means that then fixing the problem is not likely to happen...

Re: Internet Explorer Users

Well that just threw a spanner in didn't it. I've just opened up IE on my computer here and got the error every time. Firefox, which is what I always use, works fine...

Re: Internet Explorer Users

Oddly, my work system gets the error but my home system does not - both IE so it might be a version thing.

(And explains my mod absence over the last 4ish days to an extent).

I don't believe IE6 is updated anymore. Which leads me to believe it might have been a recent update that caused these problems. Find out when you started receiving e-mails and then check for recent IE7 updates. As I recall, some people don't enable auto updating (myself, I prefer to know what is going to be broken in the next windows patch). Glad I use firefox.

Re: Internet Explorer Users

The emails started yesterday, so yes, most people are pointing to the updates as the problem. That's why I went to vBulletin, to see if it was the updates, and that's where I learnt that a lot of sites were receiving the same complaint. Everyones fingers are pointing to IE, so now I'm trying to figure out if it's a problem with the script for IE users, or a problem for thoe who haven't updated their IE, in whih case, there's not really much I can do about it bar telling them to upgrade.

*edit* Sorry Midnight, not sure what happened then, we posted at the same time and I edited mine and somehow I overwrote your post. Can you post again?

Re: Internet Explorer Users

Weird. I was just saying that I tested on my old computer which still uses IE6 and nothing worked. Couldn't open threads or forum sections. Cound view the front page though.
