Question about double posting policy.
Hi,
it's not my point to create a bad vibe or something, but I just don't get the idea of how the "double post" policy is handled (see PvP forums). So for example in case I want to talk about whether I should go with a rogue for 2vs2. Am I right that I should NOT start a new thread if there is one already? Even if it is quite old? I am just not used to a habit like that and if I have to resurrect an old thread on the very topic from May or February, or even last year - is that what you suggest? Other boards explicitly disallow this, "necro-threads". As the first pages usually have lot of outdated informatioin other moderators suggest rather to create a new thread. I want to post some impressions I have with my current set-up (SL/SL with Disc Priest) in S4 but I really hesitated as I am quite aware of the moderators' reactions. Should I add my information to some older post? This one: Disc Priest - sl/sl Lock combo advice - The Warlocks Den Forums ? I am serious and do not want to mock anyone. I do see though that we have a more relaxed moderation if it's not the ever re-occuring talent, gear, and Arena setup questions. From a moderation point of view, especially if you are not personally actively involved in Arena, it *might* look all the same, but there are distinct differences for example how to play with class X in when you are spec Y and what has changed in season Z due to gear scaling. As neither the Arenas nor the gear change a lot, it's all we have to discuss after all... And it's really a lot of details if you go into multi-spec, multi-setup combinations. And we are lucky: We only discuss teams with at least 1 warlock in... One suggestion: Many people ask for help for PvP, like talents or gear. Why not have a section where people can just place those questions (like the "Pimp my gear" section): "Does 2vs2 with Ele Shaman make sense?" "Best partner for Destro in 2s" etc. I am quite happy to answer that quite often if people are not rude. Like: "General PvP discussion" -> here "Set-Up (includes builds) discussion" -> there. I encourage the active moderation and I thank Akasha and the team for keeping this place sane and sober. Best regards, neej |

Re: Question about double posting policy.
My personal opinion is that if you think that the previous thread is sufficiently old and the advice given there no longer applies then you should start a new topic (and probably state why you created a new one). That being said, obviously I'm not a moderator so I could be wrong. If a moderator disagrees and merges your topic into the old one just don't take offense to it and all will be well.
Btw, it's good to have you back neej ![]() Edit: Sometimes to get ahead of myself and type junk that makes no sense. Last edited by Debuff; August 20, 2008 at 12:32 PM.. |

Re: Question about double posting policy.
I too think this is an interesting question. Recently, someone pulled up a post that was over a year old, and several of us responded to it, not realizing that it was an old post. We started talking about something that wasn't totally related to the post, but was nevertheless interesting enough that people were responding. One of the mods closed the post, citing the fact that it was over a year old. However, the discussion was a new discussion that some of us were enjoying. At the same time, we are encouraged not to start new posts on topics that have already been discussed. So yes, I find it kind of confusing as well, and look forward to hearing what the mods have to say.
