Reputation with The Warlocks' Den faction

It's not so often that I ask a question, but it's something which has been on my mind for a while but never got round to clarifying it.

On my profile there's the section where I've had some of my posts highlighted as helpful or having good points raised by some members. In turn this has increased my standing with The Den faction, if you will.

I've wanted to add to someone else's reputation for worthy posting on many occasions but I can only see "the scales" on my posts, giving me the option to add to "Vaell's reputation".

As tempting as it is to spam my own scales to reach exalted myself I'm really wondering how I can add to someone elses rep if I don't see the scales for any other poster, on their posts.

I've done a search on this subject, so forgive me if it's there somewhere but I couldn't seem to find the answer.

I've found posts on "giving thanks" but that seems to be a separate form of rep as it only relates to the first post of the thread whereas the posts that have been singled out by me often come halfway through a thread's development. *draws breath*

V - I went ahead and flagged this with the 'warning' system so Akasha could give you a definitive answer. I think I know the dealy but would prefer you get it straight (and 100% accurate) from the Queen of the Hive.

I see little scales in the bottom left-hand corner with the profile info for every post. Every time I've used 'em, a little dialog box pops up requesting feedback on the post itself. If I approve, the poster's rep goes up, but there's also a little text box for a comment.

The two systems, rep and thanks, seem to be parallel. Do both feed into reputation somehow? The "Thanks" function specifically encourages people to start good threads (as it seems to be a little tough to do), whereas the scales encourage good posting in general.

It seems like a much better system than just ranking people by the number of posts they make (which promotes spam).

The ability to give reputation to other members is a benefit of being a Den Subscriber - which is why Warpy sees them for everyone, while Vaell, you won't.

Everyone has the ability to thank posts (first post of every thread), and ever thanks rewards the poster with 1 reputation point.

Don't worry though, hitting your own scales doesn't work hehe.

OK thanks all, for clearing that up. I had a feeling that might have been the case.

You know, I've had some issues with my paypal account for a long time and I generally just pay by card over the net. I would have certainly have been a subscriber by now if that hadn't been the case. Perhaps this is the push I need to sort it out.

And I was just confused as ever because I was expecting to see scales as a 'Supporter' but obviously I need to be a 'Subscriber' :-(
