How do we disable the auto-reload so we don't lose a nearly-completed post before we hit submit?

Don't use the 'front page' theme on the forums,

it's not intended for that.

Take the auto-reload out of the forum theme and put it on your homepage in that case.

Frankly, remove it altogether.

Gee lolotov, what part of "front page theme" misleads you to think "forum"? The homepage uses the front page theme. So, shock horror, I've done exactly what you said. Now if you use a theme clearly not intended for the forums, and I say clearly because when you use it, not only does it not provide the correct images, it stretches the forum out, then you really can't complain.

So, frankly, stop using the wrong theme.
