About the structure of "warlocks den" site..

Our site helped me and keeps helping me in great many cases. It was the first site i really enjoyed in many aspects.

However, in recent times ( Woltk approaching), i feel a little bit confused. I mean, there is so much information, in many cases based on personal speculations, or, on other cases presented during a great time interval, that i lost any connected thread of reasoning or concrete representation.

To justify my point of view, i suggest one may look at A Dwarf Priest,
and see for example the
Patch 3.0.2 Priest Survival Guide « A Dwarf Priest,

where many changes concerning Wrath of the Lich King (from priest point of view) are so elegantly and concretely presented that i feel i dont need to search anymore for my priest.

To exaggerate further, i just posted on an already existed post a question about "improved Fear" talent - whether Nightmare effect proceeds on targets trinketed out of fear - but...no answer. I couldnt also find an answer on that by searching our site. There may exist an answer but , as i said above, information is so much on quantity and so much scattered i really dont know what to do.

Of course, in other cases - especially on past - the information i gathered here is an Exemplar of what should one call elegant and structural knowledge.

Any way, i hope see my point clear, thank you..

The reason the site is a little more disorganized then usual is due to the fact that a great many members who write guides etc. do not have beta keys. The same high quality guides with empirical evidence will likely appear shortly after the release of Wrath when we can fully test everything and organize our finding appropriately.

We're at the mercy of those who take the time and effort to draft information in a coherent way. Or, choose not to.

But the OP confuses me - a lack of beta threads similiar to the one you linked has nothing to do with the OP's title which is regarding site structure. Lack of information and the organization of information are two very different things.

I would have to agree with Suspiria and Malevevely both. I think the information has become a bit teadious to search through. There are so many posts on the same subjects, and typically because one could not find the post in the first place. I myself am guilty of it as well. Is there anyway to clean some of it up? or consolidate some of them in some way?

Well to me seems like its all here on 1 site - its a lot simpler than googling and trolling umpteen sites - I dont begrudge a little time and effort searching after all someones already gone to the trouble to write it.......

Regarding multiple posts on a topic, It's an awkward balance. When we close redundant threads people complain and call us board Nazis. When we don't close them and there is 'too much information' people complain they have to work to find information. So, it comes down to trying find a middle ground between polar extremes.

Re: About the structure of "warlocks den" site..

Maltyrius and Callador, I'm not complaining about the site or it's content in a manor as to suggest I don't appreciate the information or help it has given me throughout my trials and tribulations in my life as a Warlock playing WOW. It's just a perspective provided by one of the sites members. Yes, the information is wonderful, helpful...etc...I just have to agree a little and say I think some of it is hard to find. I have had posts closed because it was mentioned in a previous post which I couldn't locate, and akasha was nice enough to provide the link to the old post. As they stated, I think a alot of the Wrath of the Lich King content is overly duplicated and slightly disorganized. And as I said, twice now, even I have duplicated content because I couldn't find an original post. I am sure in time it will get cleaned up, but was just saying I understand the persons point.

And Maltyrius, I completely understand what you are saying. I sympathize with you and supporting a site like this, I am sure it is not easy.

Ultimately the issue is that we're (as with so many sites at the moment) in a period of flux due to the imminent arrival of Wrath of the Lich King so we're left with several choices - none of which will satisfy all the board members.

We could remove all the information apart from one thread on each subject. We could allow multiple threads with divergent points of view and some tangentially similar information for fear of once more being called Board Nazi's, or we could simply carry on as we are until Wrath of the Lich King hits and we can prune every single extraeneous thread - a completely fresh start.

I'm personally of the opinion that the latter represents a workable solution at which point we can address our options and posting strictures.

Ok, now 2 moderators have chimed in, so I will shut now. Sorry, if I upset anyone. I love the site, it's great, seriously. And Theleb, I agree with your Latter statement.

I agree that the site does need some cleaning up. I would like to suggest something though. Closing threads, isn't really an answer. The mistake is there, just isn't allowed to grow. I think deleting the threads with an email or personal message to the OP, is the answer. Also, how many threads can there exist about "affliction specs at level 80" - as example?
