Glyph Threads - where to put them?

So Glyphs are a new addition to the game. And of course, there are going to be quite a few threads about them. So... where do we put these new threads?
  • Spells & Talents is an option, since some of them affect spells. But, that section tends to be pretty busy anyway.
  • Equipment section is an option... not that they really go into equipment (like gems).
  • Professions is another idea, since it's a profession that makes them. However, that would probably confuse too many people.
  • Or, I could create a new 'Glyph' section of the forum, that any and all threads about Glyphs can go under.
I'm kind of leaning towards the last option - create a new area. This would allow all questions, discussion and guides about Glyphs to go in it and keep it nice and neat. Especially if someone wanted to create a "Warlocks Guide to Glyphs" post.... wink wink, nudge nudge.

So, what do you guys think? Feedback please!! Glyph Threads - where to put them?

Well I would think you should change Spells & Talents to Spells, Talents & Glyphs

Yeah i'd say make the section spells, talents, and glyphs... or just a glyphs section

Re: Glyph Threads - where to put them?

The problem with putting glyphs into a forum that is as active as spells & talents is that the glyphs discussions are likely to get buried quickly, leading to people asking the same question as someone else asked a few days ago, because the last thread on that topic is no longer on the front page.

A separate forum would avoid this. There may be some cross-posting as a result, but I believe that would be the lesser of two evils.

Re: Glyph Threads - where to put them?

Aye, new glyphs section, separated into warlock and non-warlock sections, then major/minor sections under warlocks, then noone can post a new thread without reading each sticky, passing a test on them, doing a search for the main keyword in their thread (ie help), copying and pasting the hash generated by the search into the "valid new thread check" box...

Yeah, not going to work so hot, but at best we can contain the damage in a new section.

If that's a not so subtle attack on how the site is run, you can take a not so subtle shove back to the official forums.

Re: Glyph Threads - where to put them?

I was in no way attacking the forum or its management. If that's how my comment was read, I apologize.

I was saying that no matter what we do (even if we spent an unreasonable amount of programming hours implementing the above feature), people would still screw up the system somehow, either by flooding the section with "help! I can't activate my glyphs" threads or putting them in the (very obviously) wrong section, both of which we see fairly often in any forum on the web. However, the damage that humanity causes would be lessened if we give them a specific area for it.

In all honesty, I wouldn't really mind a feature similar to the one I described above, but the mods have done a much better job of cleanup than I have ever before seen on the forum, so it's not entirely necessary.

Re: Glyph Threads - where to put them?

Okie dokie, have created a new section for now. We'll see how much it gets used. It can either stay a permanent fixture, or it can be removed once things settle down.

Re: Glyph Threads - where to put them?

I'm confused as to why we're treating glyphs differently than enchantments. Sure, they'll be discussed more than enchants from now until Wrath launches, since there won't be much new-ness factor to enchantments until then, but once that point happens.. It seems as though giving them a whole new section is too much.

..Full disclosure, I am an enchanter, and haven't yet taken the plunge on Inscription.

Re: Glyph Threads - where to put them?

Mostly because members have been getting confused on which section the threads belong under. Enchantments are direct enhancements of gear, so it makes sense to put them together. But Glyph threads have been posted all over the forums, which is understandable because when I was clearing out the Wrath of the Lich King section, even I wasn't sure on where they belong.

The poll also backs this up as I can see, between the 3 current sections, there are multiple votes.

The new section can be a temporary one. It can always be removed at a later date.
