The only thing I've noticed so far is on the 'Page 1 of X' when viewing a thread. When you are at the top of the thread, it matched the bright purple from the top bar, but when you get to the bottom of the thread (where I think the majority of people would be using these buttons), the bright purple looks out of place, at least to me. I'd maybe change that to the deeper purple from the two-tone menu bars. My 2c.

So far I'm loving the new design. I like the new banner, especially with the distant drop shadow on the portal. The font is pretty awesome as well. My favorite part (thus far) of the overall look has to be the character data block when you post. It looks so much better now and kinda "pops" out from the page. What I think would improve the look even more is to outline the Banner font in the same manner as the "Reply to thread" font for a more prominent feel to it. Maybe only 1/2 the stroke width though. Also, the button for "Share / Bookmark"ing a thread is different than those around it by the bottom few pixels. I can't wait to see the matching front page (unless I'm missing something, the color / design scheme has not made the transition to page 1). If there's any way I can be of assistance, drop me a line and I'll do what I can. Overall, great job!

Keep in mind that this isn't the end of the changes. The front page will be receiving a makeover at some point. I also think we'll be trying to come up with a few cool Forum Skins for people to try out. And the banner probably is going to have some work done to it, just needs something a bit more exciting. /scratches chin and ponders

I guess I'll try it out. I like the Pern theme color scheme too well though. One suggestion that I would make would be to make a really narrow horizontal divider between the picture/links on the left side for Library (and ulduar guides) and the advertisements below them. The reason is that at a glance the ads looks very similar (bright colors, relatively same shape) to the picture/links for the important content. This might cause some people to overlook the wonderfully made picture/links to the guides. My thoughts are something similar to what Google has on it's search results page. They just have a really narrow vertical line with small, non-styled text that says Sponsor Links. Here is and example I just whipped up in mspaint (sorry for the picture size). Notice at the bottom-left there is a simple, non-intrusive box that gives just enough visual separation between the links and the ads. Last edited by Debuff; June 24, 2009 at 03:20 PM.. |
