DPS Sucks threads
I know this has been brought up before and I am all for helping people and I don't want a Elitist Jerks style site but on the other hand it is getting completely frustrating with all the dps sucks threads. It is clear that these people are not even researching or looking any further then hitting the post new thread button. There are some amazing authors on this site and many times over and over people are posting great guides. Someone JUST posted this week or last a great post on rotations, how to gear, what gem etc. They didn't post anything new or earth shattering but was very concise and quick to the point. He too was frustrated with the amount of dps sucks threads and tried to help them. I know Akasha did some things to tone these down but they seem to have come back up worse then ever. |

Re: DPS Sucks threads
I agree. Just looking before i replied to this 5 out of the 10 new posts on the home page are "dps sucks" threads. Getting very out of hand and this has been going on for at least a week or two now. I have found myself coming a little less lately because of all these threads cluttering up the recent posts section of the homepage. |

Re: DPS Sucks threads
There is a section of the den called 'DPS help!'. Not only should a lot of those threads be moved there, but anyone who posts a 'my DPS sucks' thread should ideally do a search first. There's already a ton of good advice, 99% of which will answer any questions a poster might have. After all, how many variants are there of gem & chant properly, don't clip dots, stat priority and which pet/trink to use? It's all been said before. I agree with the above posters. I'm glad to help, but help yourself first by looking through the existing threads... |

Re: DPS Sucks threads
To add to my previous comment. If I remember correctly the dps sucks threads were taking out of latest threads section. That is where 99% percent of my reading comes from. |

Re: DPS Sucks threads
Inspirational/Insane idea. I'm sure everyone remembers the lovely list way back in the mists of time that was compiled for the lvl60 mount quest. Would be nice to have a similar list of people on your server who wanted to be the goto guy/gal for dps issues. I don't know about anyone else but having someone standing next to me who can explain and demonstrate live as it were would be a huge boon to learning. Videos and written tutorials while being handy don't have that "party with someone and try matching them blow for blow" on the dummy level of interaction, making it easy to see from recount/skada exactly were your going wrong in your rotation in realtime. Sure there are plenty of über locks out there willing to share the love to make our class reach its full potential. Now that i've written it down it does seem a little nuts, but what do other people think ?

Re: DPS Sucks threads
I think asking for members old and new to search before they post defeats the point of a forum community. I'd rather get help in a personal post from a member even if they link the appropriate threads. The forum is huge and search doesn't always give you the best results. DPS is very important for a lot of folks and even though we get a lot of these threads, it is our responsibility to help the person. This is the philosophy we've adopted here and it should remain that way. |

Re: DPS Sucks threads
I can understand and share in the frustrations, and I see Milaulis' point. For a long time, I was in a very casual guild. I begged and practically offered gold to people to visit sites such as this as some would complain as to why they couldn't raid. So, as I see it, maybe it's a small plus that at least these people are coming to the forums to try and learn. |
