Influx of drive by form spam
I've been keeping an eye on the forum posts RSS feed for over 2 years now and the recent influx of drive by spam is begining to get exceedingly annoying. I'd really prefer not to have to take the RSS feed off my list, but each time we get the short lived spammer account I question the reason for keeping it on. Please explain how the management team wants to handle the influx of spam accts. |

I mentioned it for Milaulis, but haven't received a response yet. I take them out the moment I see them, of course. That doesn't help your issue, but at the moment that's all I can do. I will pester Milaulis to update the anti-bot methods (I can't even remember them, been a while since I registered, CAPTCHA?) so we can deal with this plague. Trust me when I say it's as annoying for me as it is for you.

even had it im my forensics forum. there are numerous ways spammers bypass craptcha so i resorted to asking a cryptic question like: "geek / trainspotter / enthusiast" 6 letters starts with A ends in K, on the join form. If they don't get it they can mail admin with an enquiry to join. Here, it maybe that permissions on first post are different in some sub fora thus enabling newbs to "drive by" and spam. Not sure on the registration protocol in this forum tho. keep up the good work dude, it is appreciated. Kern |
