3.1 CoE or CoD?

First off let me say you guys have helped me out so much just from reading your threads. You took a lock from doing less than 2k dps to 4k dps!!

I do have a question though. I have been using CoE as my first cast in my rotation as a destro lock. Which is better CoE or CoD? Im the only caster dps in my raid group atm and i would like to maximize my dps for the group.

This is the best Warlock site on the web btw.

Re: CoE or CoD?

If there is no other +13% magic damage debuff present, use CoE.
If there is, use CoD, but preferably under a +spl trinket buff.

Hope that helps

Re: CoE or CoD?

If you do not have 13% magic debuff from either a moonkin or unholy DK then CoE is hands down the curse to use.

well i think it depends, since you are the only caster in group CoE will probably help only you, while CoD will help the rest of melee to get extra 5% DPS... if you go with the same group and your main goal is progress, i would use CoD for the team spirit...

Re: CoE or CoD?

my understanding of COE is that it reduces resistances by 165 *AND* increases magic damage taken by 13%

i got a fellow guilding a 78 shadow priest to hit the level 80 dummy with and without coe on it.

to start with had trouble getting reliable figures worked out this was due to crit got her to strip nakid and do it again. i didnt have any pets out either and no buffs.

we got a reliable 10k damage to running out of mana with 280dps once the dots ran out without coe on the target.

with coe on the target this DROPPED to 8k damage and around 240dps

this doesnt make sense?

interestingly with the fel hound out this gives a spirit and intelect buff it increased to 15k damage and 400 dps.

im really confused as to how the COE could reduce the shadow priests damage. I could understand it not increasing it much because maybe the dummies dont have resistances or something silly like that but for the total damage and dps to drop at all is just insane?

rather confused,

Ade
