recount or wws?
Being too lazy to use wws, I wonder if recount has the same results. In fact, my dps seems to be quite low even if I am in decent gear (according to recount, around 3k on patchwerk with 1900 sp 300 haste hit capped), although my dot uptime seems to be fine; ticks of ua are about 90% ticks of corruption. So, is recount giving low dps or am I sucking? :D |

Re: recount or wws?
Your raid group must be awesome then, if 3k doesn't make you at least a bit happy. If your group is so awesome someone else in your group probably hosting wws too so use that one! I use both recount and WWS, its not all that hard to do imo. but analyzing with recount is a lot harder i believe since it does nothing with MISS, Friendly buffs, or debuffs? so you lose some information that could benefit your analysis. |

Re: recount or wws?
I am doing very well in my guild, but I am one of the most stuffed raiders, and I honestly think that I spend more time at learning my class than my average guildmates, so I wonder... I use essentially recount to check my dot and haunt uptime. I guess that my raid leader uses wws, but dps is quite a warm topic (anybody using recount or linking it is suspected of using it for bad reason, essentially "my dps is bigger than yours lol"). Re: recount or wws?
:D i have seen that happen to me too... I just don't talk about the "dps statz" so much anymore i just post wws and do the math for myself and my own improvement what others want to do with it is their business if they dont want to be confronted ... its ok. |

Re: recount or wws?
BOTH! /slams a beer into the TV. Recount and WWS are like a roofing hammer and a framing hammer. They are both hammers, and they can both perform basically the same function, but someone who knows what they are doing understands the benefits of both in any given situation. I think WWS is the more powerful of the two in the right hands, but recount is just as useful. I use it mid-raid to diagnose all sorts of issues that I can quickly identify in recount that would take too long to dump into WWS, parse, upload, THEN view. WWS may be the better tool for raid analysis, but it isn't available in-game when you might need some instant feedback.

Re: recount or wws?
TBH Recount is not a very accurate way of measuring DPS WWS is much better and you can see more indepth what is going on around you. Now dont get me wrong I do use recount as well but more to check how im doing on the fly then to stroke any epeen meters.

Re: recount or wws?
This may not matter to you, but Recount can be a resource hog too, impacting frame rates on intense fights. WWS requires that you log your Combat Log to a file which also has a small amount of overhead to it as well, but I think WWS is considered the "final word," so to speak, on what happened during the logging period, as it's more forensic in nature. That said, if you have the computer horsepower to run both, by all means do so. Sometimes Recount alerts me to a problem I would not have otherwise noticed, like a missing buff while I'm in the raid, whereas WWS wouldn't identify the problem until afterward. On a final note, I don't usually find a lot of variation between Recount results and what WWS ultimately reports. They may not be exact, but I rarely see enough of a difference to suspect either of being fundamentally flawed. |

Re: recount or wws?
I find Recount to be quite buggy but I still use it for some real-time DPS info. I also use WWS as it's good for everyone to see where improvements can be made but I've had complaints that the posted WWS is sometimes very different from what people had in their Recount window. Also, we have the no Recount in raid chat rule as well. I'm always suspicious of why people are linking it. Seems a bit like schlong-swinging to me. |
