For ae you will use rain of fire, NOT seed of corruption. Also, because incinerate is your blast spell, you should relocate the 5 points you have in improved shadow bolt. As there is a LOT of raid AE these days, you might even consider Pyroclasm as a full destro. AE can get you unwanted attention if your tank cannot keep aggro. Pyroclasm adds a stun to the rain of fire. Here is sort of what I mean. I left two points unspent deliberately. I hope that helps.

I am still what you would call a bit of a newb. although my toon, Hadara - trollbane, is level 80, i leveled fairly quickly & through mostly soloing. Now that i am trying to run more instances, i am finding that I cannot produce the DPS needed for my class. i have read all the articles. i have the spell rotation down. here are some of my "known" issues: 1. gear - mostly dungeon, rep & quest blues 2. macros - only use with trinkets 3. pets - not sure which to use, if any.. 4. I use Recount.. should i switch 5. i have no Warlocks in my Guild to learn from! current spell rotation... shadow bolt-haunt-ua-immo-corr-Curse of Agony-siphon life mostly use felhunter affliction spec 57/0/13 DPS is usually around 800-900. sucks!!! HELP!! |

What am I doing wrong?
Hello fellow warlocks. I have a couple of questions. Before you criticize my spec and gear, I haven't raided with a guild since wrath of the lich king was released. I have casually pugged everything. Armory Link:The World of Warcraft Armory My problem; I can't break 3800-4000 dps (reccount from patchwerk 25), yet I see warlocks who do 5k-6! I have spent over 2000 gold finding a decent build with a rotation that I enjoy, and can handle Affliction doesn't work for me because I raid on a computer that produces 5 fps in raids. Besides that I have tried demo/destro builds and I feel that while they do pull solid numbers, it is not consistent. It heavily relys on rng, and if the fight is friendly towards pets. Sapphirion, satharion, and heigan all had my damage plummet as demo. I finally have settled with destruction. (2/14/54). First of all, is there anything in my talent build that I could change that would signifgantly improve my damage per second? I do not want to give up talents like shadowfury, soul link, or fel domination however. My rotation is immolate>Curse of Agony>conflag>chaosbolt>inc>inc. I refresh dots before they expire, and conflagerate every 8-10 seconds. I also use chaosbolt whenever it is off cooldown and use incinerate as a filler. Am I doing it wrong rotation wise? Is it my gear that is holding me back? ALso, should I drop Heigan's putrid vestments inplace for t7.5 chest and get the 4 peace bonus? Are my gems and enchants proper? Thank you, please criticze what I am doing wrong. I appreciate your help. If this is in the wrong section, may you please move it? |

I have had the same problem with FPS (0-5 in 25 mans), and additionally I raid with 300-600 ms ping. To increase FPS disable all background programs, set all visual details to lowest (except perhaps Spell Detail for AoE), don't put your resolution too high, and disable sound (yes! this is a huge FPS increase, for me at least). IMO Soul Link (and Fel Domination) do not have a place in PvE unless you are running a Felguard build. You might want to consider putting 1 point from FD and SL in Suppression so that you are hit capped with Affliction spells as well (when raiding with a Doomkin or SP anyway). Otherwise I think the build is fine, though I believe a 0/31/40 or 0/41/30 will produce better results. Do not clip your DoTs (= refresh before duration is over). It lowers DPS (especially in the case of Curse of Agony because the last ticks deal most damage) and increases mana usage. About Corruption, Curse of Agony and Molten Core: you should always refresh Corr and Curse of Agony, even when MC is up. But you really should not clip them, big DPS loss. Also, during Bloodlust and Backdraft at the same time, you can try firing Soul Fires (my Incinerates are at a 0.9 sec cast time if I get Bloodlust and Backdraft at the same time, so I lose 0.1 sec each time I cast one, so I use Soul Fire instead at those moments). Just be sure to stock up Soul Shards on trash. About your gear: your gear is just fine. Gems are good too (go for SP//Haste in yellow, SP//Spirit in blue and SP in red). You may also want to get Exalted with Sons of Hodir reputation for the Shoulder enchants. Also, you will not beat an equally geared//skilled Affliction lock on Patchwerk (and probably on other bosses neither, except perhaps Noth because you have a powerful Rain of Fire), because Affliction simply is the best DPS spec we have at the moment.

It really does look like your on the right track, the build is good, you have a good rotation, you have a few of the proper enchants. Once you get the gear and the enchants, youll start seeing your dps go higher then your spellpower. Which is usually a good indicator that you are doing something right or wrong. If you have a hard time matching dps with your spellpower then your doing something wrong. But it looks to me that you arent having that problem. Also if you dont know, check out this website Be Imba! - the online Character Auditor for World of Warcraft The website is pretty nice it shows you some stats, but the good part is that it shows you where you stand progression wise and where you can get gear upgrades as well where you do good at. It also gives some very useful information about what you should or should not be doing (enchant and gem wise). It helped me out alot. |

Heya gang, Just looking for some advice on how I can optimize my setup, both gear wise, and talents etc. The World of Warcraft Armory Thats my armory link with the relevant information. My current record is 4.6k DPS on patch 25m. Not sure if thats good or bad. One of my main concerns was speccing out of the hit-talents and into more DPS and how I would have to change my gear accordingly. Any feedback, advice etc would be much appreciated. |

I am a deep destruction warlock that is in need of some help finding out what is wrong with my dps. I love deep destruction and want to improve using this spec rather than going affliction or 41/30. I have taken a look at such threads as Deep Destruction - Post 3.0.8 Rotation and DPS Discussion - The Warlocks Den Forums . I have changed my glyphs, my pet of choice, and my rotation and I have seen only minimal gains. My gear is fairly good, I think, and I really don't think that my skill is that bad. Maybe it is, but that's why I'm here. Help me out, guys... My armory: The World of Warcraft Armory My Spec: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft To save you some looking (though feel free): Stats: Just over 2200 damage self buffed Hit capped (with talents) 21% crit (with talent) 306 haste I typically have up Flask of the Frost Wyrm and a Greater Firestone at all times. I eat 40 spell damage food (30 damage if we are wiping alot so I don't waste the good stuff). My typical rotation is: Curse of Agony->Immo->Conflag (for first burst of backdraft)->Immo->Incin->Chaos Bolt. Conflag->Incin->Incin->Chaos Bolt->Immo->Curse of Agony (repeat) Pet: I am using the Imp as my pet. I may switch out for the fel puppy in military to help remove bone armor but that's about it. First, I would likely change the 5 points in Corruption to Curse of Agony for Molten Core uptime... I just haven't yet. I love Shadowfury for it's utility and I actually use it quite a bit on trash (good way to get a molten core proc before AoE on trash too). We have no boomkin in our raids so that's not an option. I see people using a similar spec getting 5K on patchwerk and I'm just floored. I am seeing an average of an abysmally low 2751 dps. Why?  I am seeing some lag where I cast something and nothing happens. I end up having to mash my keyboard in order to get one spell off. I know that this latency has something to do with it but I don't think it can be the only thing. I think we are hitting the Abom wing tonight so hopefully I'll have some better numbers to share. Hey guys, more of a lurker, but am really frustrated atm. Here's my armory link The World of Warcraft Armory I was 0/33/38 but re-specced to 0/40/31 when buffed with Fel armour and Imp my sp is 2121 But my DPS sucks. rotation is Curse of Agony-Corruption-Imm-spam Incinterate. repeat. I bump demo empowerment but doesnt seem to affect my dps... on bosses swap Curse of Agony for CoElements. Have Immolate glyph, Curse of Agony glyph and Imp Glyph Am averaging bout 1400 maybe 1500 dps. My hightest was 1900 in Naxx and I was top of recount for DPS..I shouldnt have been lol...we wiped early I'm trying my best not to retire my lock to an alt...but tbh heroics just annoy me now that my dps is so low :(. I respecced to affliction and dps dropped to 3 figures...so Like the OP...I could do with some help /frustrated. |

I would also question your use of CoE on bosses with that spec. In Heroics, probably not even worth doing as you'll likely get better Molten Core uptime from casting Curse of Agony with that spec. In 25/10 mans, don't bother if you've got boomkin or unholy DK, they have similar talents. I almost never use CoE anymore on anything. |
