Re: Level 70 DPS

Just quest quest quest and don't worry about it. That's excellent DPS for your level. If you want to try something a bit different, try this:

Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft

I find points in Master Summoner wasted personally, but Master Conjurer is a minor DPS increase, so that's up to you. Improved Health Funnel is great when you are soloing group quests, but you could forgo that and go with Demonic Resilience instead for tougher demons that way. Mana Feed is a MUST or your Felguard is going to run out of mana for cleave and his DPS will go away. Your next 5 points should go into Ruin in the Destruction tree.

Your DPS will be heavily dependent upon keeping you and your pet buffed, and using Meta as much as possible. I always run with good buff food, Kibbler's Bits for pet buff, scrolls on me and the Felguard, and since I'm herb/alch either elixirs or flasked. Most locks don't bother with the pet buffs, but it makes a difference for your FG. In groups make SURE you poke your group mates to ensure both you and your FG are fully buffed.

Good luck!
I agree with your general premise... focus on spell damage. + hit is also important, but you won't see as much of it. Pretty much everything else... don't worry too much about. The only thing I'd say is that +spirit is better than +int and +stam. If the spellpower on an item is the same, take the one with more spirit. Spirit + Fel Armor= spellpower.

I tend to start with Curse of Agony if I'm casting it. It's such a long duration, and it ticks more near the end, so if I'm casting it I cast it first. Next is Corruption since I have a couple points in Molten Corre. Sometimes you get lucky and proc it before Immo hits.

Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immo, SB spam is what I normally do. Solo I might do Immo first so that cast time is taken while Felguard runs to the mob.

Also, I find you can't really talk about a rotation past the opening stack.

Curse of Agony, Corr, Immo, SB spam. After that it's watching DotTimer and refreshing DoTs as needed. Never clip them... this tends to end up with Immo and Corr falling off about the same time, which works perfectly. When Immo is 2 seconds left or less, start casting immo, then when it lands you drop insta corruption and it puts them both back up just as they drop off. Just don't start too early and clip them, it's too big a DPS hit. Also I'm glyphed for Immo and Curse of Agony, if you are not your rotation may differ a bit in terms of timing.

When grouping, for multi-mob pulls, I lay Corruption down on one or two (looking for a MC proc) then just Rain of Fire. For 2 or 1 mob, normal dot stack in a Heroic if they will live long enough for Curse of Agony to finish. If they will not, just CoE and SB nuke or Corr and SB nuke. Remember if mobs are living for longer than say 30 seconds, you may NOT want to put your dots back on. If mobs are lasting 40 seconds, you are better to just let the dots fall off and just nuke the last 12 seconds or whatever.

Re: Demonology DPS and Rotation post 3.0.8

I was 0/21/50 spec for a while and always sustained near around 5k dps on most boss fights in naxx, 25 man. but since i respecced to teh /41/30 i have found it to be a far superior spec. the max hit you need is around 300 and your focus stat other than SP is haste. I currently run with about 2.7k sp self buff with no pally kings or druid stat stuff. with those on i hit 3k self buff then when trinket gets going 3.2k then other trinket 4k sp. haste is the most important here and just to get an idea of this power in the first 30 seconds on 25m Sartharion i went up to 7.2k dps, first wave hit i ganked agro and died. that fast. on patchwerk i sustained 6.9k where the top geared lock in my guild did 7.2k and the afflock was just above me and we topped out the dps meters. this spec is far superior to the deep destro and to dps against a pally, dk, or hunter is so easy now..anywho off to work. fyi, the top geared lock in my guild is amongst the top 7 on the server and when he was deep destro spec i out dpsd him. so now hes a 41/30 too lol.
