Help with Demonology DPS and Rotation - Post 3.1
This thread is for discussion on DPS and Cast Rotations for Demonology heavy builds. For Warlocks that are Demonology to discuss how to improve their DPS, optimal cast rotations and general discussion about their playstyle. Please try to fill this thread up with information and discussion. Let's not make it one huge 'help' thread. Let's give a reason to come here instead of EJ... Personally, I'm a Demon/afflic spec, my gear is pretty much shit (only wearing stuff i got from questing solo) because by the time i get home from work, there are pretty much no raids happening (usually about midnight EST), but this build works well for me The World of Warcraft Armory but, i think i might be switching over to the build that Tragik linked |

Just a quick comment on your spec tendrizer: If you like it and arent worried too much about being great dps, then by all means stick with it, the game is really about having fun. However if you want to climb the charts, to do good dps as a lock you absolutely must be speced into Ruin. No lock build without Ruin will ever do dps anywhere near a build with it. Read the forums and learn what you can about the dif suggested specs, they are all pretty good now. But you must, must, must have Ruin to do good dps. |

I finally got around to dualspecing, and went destro on it 0/30/41, and i fell in love with ruin. When I logged back in the next day, and pushed the magic button to go back over to my demon build, i found a glitch. When you log out, the spec that you are NOT using at the time, will get reset, if your logged for a certain amount of time (not sure on the time frame) so I decided to hell with it, and tried a new demon build (0/56/15) and it is NICE. The main thing that i liked about my old build, was Improved Soul Drain, for soloing purposes. Oh yea, does anyone else love the changes to Master Conjuror? |

I am now deep demo the meta/ruin spec for the most part, and tend to get high damage dealt, but sometimes 3rd in dps.. this has happened a lot. Any reason for that? I regularly get high damage and many times 1st place in activity according to recount, but dps just isnt as high. I'm confused. Should I worry about dps or just be happy witht he high damage output? |

@Belthezor I think we need a lot more information to help you figure out what is going on. What content are you talking about, what spellpower/hit are you running, what fights are you winning/losing on, and who's beating you? Also what spell rotation are you running. I've found generally as a Meta lock since 3.0 hit, that with 3.1 I'm up a few hundred DPS without doing anything much different. I'm sure it's going to be more like 500 dps once I use Meta more effectively and get better at Soulfire weaving. @Hawkhill You need to tweak your spec. You need Nemesis, and you can pull points from Destructive Reach and one from Molten Core to get it. Dump Cataclysm and Aftermath, you need 5 in Bane. I take it you are raiding with an Elemental shaman who can handle the spellpower buff for the raid.
