3.1 Help with Demo/Destro Hybrid Build DPS and Rotation - Post 3.1

This thread is for discussion on DPS and Cast Rotations for Demonology/Destruction Hybrid Builds such as 0/40/31 and 0/41/30. For Warlocks that want to discuss how to improve their DPS, optimal cast rotations and general discussion about their playstyle.

Please try to fill this thread up with information and discussion. Let's not make it one huge 'help' thread. Let's give a reason to come here instead of EJ...

For general DPS and Rotation discussion please use the I need help with my DPS - Thread #2 (Post Patch 3.1) thread. Thankyou.

Character Name: Vealyx

Wowhead link of current build in use: http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-ta...x&gn=Dedicated

PvE Play style and Requirements of build:

Most of all heroics & Naxx 10 / Voa 10 / hc
Just began with ulduar 10

Question:

Hello all,

After visiting this forum several times i'd finally decided to register.

After i did almost all the heroic instances and cleared naxx 10 im wondering why my dps isn't high. Most of the time my overall dps is about 2 / 2.1 k.
I've seen warlocks with the same gear doin' for over 3k dps on a raid.
Tonight im going to naxx 25 and want to burst more damage out.
Is it normal to have that low dps with this build / gear?

The rotation that i have is:

Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Conflagnate, Incinerate -- Incinerate etc.. till i get decimate --> Soulfire. (And renew my dots when they stop)

Is there something that im doing wrong?

Can someone help me / give advise to get rid of that sloppy dps that i have at the moment.

Sorry for my bad english, im dutch.

Greetings, Vealyx

Re: I must be doin' something wrong

Gear wise, your OK. As for your rotation - what I normally do would be the following:

Curse of Agony, Corr, Immo and spam Incin until 1/2 seconds left on Immo then pop conflag. Keep with Incin. until refresh dots.

I'm pulling around 3.5K - 4K; depending on the fight.

Heya all!
I am new to Warlock's den and i apologize in advance if i am posting this do a wrong thread,
I have a similar problem, altough i can only dream about being part of a raid.
I consider myself being a newbie altough levelled my lock to 80 quite fast but in the process i started doing a lot PVP and forgot focusing on instances.
Thing is i am only able to hit around 1900DPS on lv80 dummy and i am always bellow 1500DPS in heroics, which is quite frustrating of course as not only raids are out of the question but obviously i struggle in heroics too.
My link to amory The World of Warcraft Armory
I recently respecced from full affi to 0/41/30 with FG,with Incinerate,FG and Health funnel(i have been thinking replacing this one for Life Tap) glyphs.
Casts- corr,Curse of Agony, immo, inci spam, shadowburn(not always) and again.
I never use FG in heroics,i go for imp coz of sta buff or felhunter, depending on a number of casters.
Obviously gear is the problem(hit and haste only around 190),it is slowly coming together, but come on!I must be to squeeze out more from it on dummy and consequently in hc.Or am i wrong?
Any advice is welcome.....

Thanx for reply

The most obivous suggestion here is to actually use the pet that you have spent a talent point to get. The FG will do about 1/4 of your total dps, so forget the grp buff and use him. If you want to use the imp, respec and drop the FG, that point can spent somewhere else that will yeild a dps benefit.

The Felguard is definitely critical to this build. When I was specced 0/41/30, I saw him hit 992 DPS on 10 man Patchwerk with me in nothing higher than 10 man Naxx gear. You've got to have him out.

Hmm...to be honest i never tried FG,mainly because i am asked to pull imp or fellhunter out.but ofc i do agree, he makes far too much DPS to be ignored.
i will give it a shot ,cheers.
Any thoughts about my gear, glyphs and spell rot?
What abilities should i focus on at this point?
Thanx

Sometimes I get asked by folks to put out my Imp or my Felhunter. If they do I assume they don't know a thing about Warlocks and haven't looked at my spec (when I'm specced 41/30). I then politely say "no." In reality my Imp gives a +1,000 health or so. While it's nice to have that buff, if a group (read: tank) needs it to do his job effectively then he needs better gear.

Yance,
I would definitely get rid of the Health Funnel Glyph. I would go with Immolate in addition to the FG and Incinerate, at least until you can get your 4 piece tier-7 bonus, then switch to Glyph of Life Tap.
As far as some upgrades, run Heroic Violet Hold every day until you get the Mark of the War Prisoner. That has +73 hit, which will help for raiding. For heroics, though, you are over the hit cap, so you are fine in that regard.
As for talents, I noticed that you have some points allocated to help out your minion. While this is ok, I think that you can get more damage out of spending those points to directly improve yourself. Take a look at Fallenman's guide Fallenman's 3.1 Quick Raid Spec Rundown! - The Warlocks Den Forums

It lays it out for you with a 0/41/30 build, but to up damage, you need to have points in Molten Core and Decimation. The Molten Core extra damage is nice, and a quick Soulfire cast is nice as well.
Rotation wise, on trash pulls with 2 or more mobs, I go Curse of Agony, Corruption, Rain of Fire until they start falling off, then single target if there is one left. On bosses, Curse of Agony, Corruption, Immolate, Inc spam, refresh DoTs and Life Tap as needed, until 35%. Then you have to weave the Soul Fire in with the Incinerate, but after it hits. So depending on range and haste, you may go more 2x Inc, 1x Soul Fire.
Read that guide though, it'll help.

As mentioned, keep your FG out... all the time! He's a big chunk of damage, and you are specced that way for a reason. The only time I don't have him out is when he may cause issues, like on Kel in Naxx. Trying to take out the banshees from range, the imp came in handy, as my FG pulled an entire alcove into us.

Good luck!
