yet another, why is my dps so low post
Hey Guys, I'm sure you've heard it 1000 times. Here are my basic stats: 0/40/31 spec 1850sp 300hit 22%fire crit 300 haste Here's my rotation Lifetap(glyph) immolate, conflag, corr, Curse of Agony, incin, (conflag when it's back up, refresh dots when appropriate. When a mob is below 35% i use incin and soulfire also trying to keep dots up .etc my _maximum_ dps at this point(10 man naxx) is 1800 I've seen locks with similar sort of gear and they are doing way more dps than I. If I use the training dummy in IF i get around 1500 if i push it, I really can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. I know you probably dont want to here this from a horde and a noob that isnt as well geaered as you, but perhaps wasting your time on the gcds from those aff spells is lowering your dps, im in gear that is shit compared to yours and i am destruction, but i still get 2k dps on ten man bosses give destro a try its fun as hell and the crits are magnificent |

Well from what I can tell - you do have some greens, blues and lower-end epics. That is a healthy nick to your DPS right there. Also, your rotation. I would use Curse of Agony/Corr before Immo, Conflag so that it procs Molten Core. |

perhaps I completely missed the point but I am specced demo/dest I only use Curse of Agony/corr for the mc buffs. I have a couple of t7 pieces and an ulduar bracer, as that what you're referring to as lower end? also, regardless of when I use Curse of Agony/corr eventually i'll just be topping up the aff dots so it doesn't really matter what I start with in a long running fight, right? for shorter fights i'd agree but specifically on boss fights it'll proc anyway. Gear is a huge part of a warlocks dps now. Unfortunately skill while it helps, it doesn't help nearly enough. Don't take offensive if he is telling you that you have low end gear because a couple pieces of tier 7 and some boe bracers from ulduar isn't that great. I didnt break 3k dps until i was fully naxx 10 and partly 25 geared. It's all about your rotation too. Even if you slack just a little bit in your rotation by messing up a gcd your dps will drop. It's tough being a warlock nowadays. After looking at your gear you should be happy that you are pulling 1800 dps. You aren't even close to hit capped and you only have 1400 sp. |

As for the mention of when to use Curse of Agony and Corruption, just don't -- for any reason -- use one of those spells within your backdraft proc (ie the three spells immediately after Conflag). Those should always be cast time spells, either Incinerate or Soul Fire. Just watch your shards if you are Soul Firing through backdraft.

Your biggest problem is your hit ratting. 186 hit is a bit low. Start getting it up and you will stopp missing. |

Mf, The other glaring thing I noticed (unless I am missing it cause I can't believe no one else noticed it...) but none of your gear has any enchants on it?! Ummm......you've got an awesome set of bracers from Ulduar (ones that I was considering buying from the AH for 1500G the other day) and you don't have the +30 spell power enchant on them? Also find a tailor to put some +50 spellpower/+20 spirit thread on your pants! I think once you get some of your items enchanted and get your hit rate closer to 400, you'll notice some difference in your DPS. Like Chinsaw said, 186 is way too low for hit......swap out some of the spirit gems for hit gems or spell ones at least until your hit rating is way higher. Just my 2 copper. Reyka |

Your main issue is hit rating, pure and simple. Your armory profile says your hit is 186 unbuffed. That's not going to get you to the cap, even with raid buffs. Get your hit rating up to the cap and you'll see your dps go way up. I'm specced 41/30 with unbuffed spell power of 1498 which is very similar to yours. However, my hit rating is 413 so with food or raid buffs I can easily get hit-capped for raids. I ran 25 man Archavon last night and in the presence of all the raid buffs that everyone tosses around, my dps on Archavon was just a little over 3000. The good news is that the fix for your situation is pretty easy in my opinion. Run Violet Hold every day until you get the Mark of the War Prisoner trinket (improves hit by 73). Put a buckle on your belt and gem for hit. Get a Wand of Blinding Light (Dragonblight quest reward) to replace the wand you have. Regem your Heroes Plagueheart Circlet with hit rating gems (get rid of those crit and spirit gems). Regem your leggings and boots for hit rating also. Then get your gear enchanted - doesn't even have to be the super-expensive enchants. Those are easy things to do and I think you'll see your dps go way up. There are two great articles here on wowmb.net in The Library section one on gearing for nax and the other on enchanting your gear. Take some pointers from those articles and you'll be much happier. |
