A previous post gave me an idea about what may be the OP's issue - do you Drain Soul execute and how well do you keep DoTs up between ticks? That alone could account for the 1k difference. |

1) If the fight demands high survivability - aka ToC Faction Champions, Freya Hard Mode 2) If the fight has lots of mobs : Yogg, Freya Hard Mode (I'm in a well geared guild, I don't bother with affliction on regular/medium freya, since everything dies so fast). 3) If the fight has some quirk where I will constantly be stopping my casting to do something else: Yogg - You can drain soul execute while facing away from yogg, so you never lose sanity and still have DS ticks for 20K+ Just think of the specs this way: Destruction = High Burst, Affliction = Heals you, Demo = Raid-wide Buff.... and plan accordingly. |

Re: Depressed Aff Lock
I kinda ditched my affliction offspec simply because i felt i was only using it for Yogg. Since the new raid has come out though plus we're preparing for the hard modes in Ulduar i might get it back. On the test dummy with a boomkin buffing me i did almost 1k less as affliction than destro. This was repeated several times. Depends on the fight i guess but that kind of put me off. It's certainly not the best spec at the moment, but it's very good as an offspec and it's good to have deep destro/deep affliction for your two specs if you're a raider. |

Re: Depressed Aff Lock
I'm depressed too, but if I switched to destro now i'd get a lot of "I told you so"s, so I've committed to finding the best way to handle affliction in all settings. For the most part I can still top the meter in any boss fight, and when the mobs stack in groups (Anarchid Quarter) SoC makes all the mages cry. However, Heroics have made it clear that us little ol' affliction locks have some tough times ahead, not having burst damage means im only just above the tank in H Nexus ect. Lame. My advice for Pixie is to not try and cling to a dying spec when you don't have the gear to put up a decent fight. Go destro and master it for as long as it takes you to get your Superior achievement, THEN you may have the capability to compete the two specs. |
