Hi, My name is Dronthal (Bronze Dragonflight EU), I have got a Level 80 warlock and i love to do PvE! i like to raid with my guild as much as i can but i don't often get picked for raids because of my low DPS I am getting 1.5k - 2.5k in raids i cant understand why. I have spoken to other warlocks in my guild who are getting 3k - 4k DPS. The Warlock i spoke to in my guild uses the same rotation as i do and the same spec (Destruction) the rotation i use is Curse of elements Or Curse of Doom (CoD If another warlock is putting CoE on mobs) --> Immolate --> Conflagrate --> Chaos bolt --> inncinerate x3. for my Glyphs i use: Glyph of life tap (I do use the effect of this in my rotation), Glyph of Immolate and Glyph of Conflagrate. Here is a link to my armory page :- The World of Warcraft Armory I know my warlock isnt very good and he has alot of bad gear you will be like OMG NOOB at but i really enjoy playing and its my only level 80 so please take a look and try to help me get a better DPS Thank you for reading this Many thanks Dronthal.

Re: A Warlocks Cry for help
Most of your problem I suspect does lie in your gear, go farm a few heroics and get a bit of better gear. Alternatively you could always try a different spec, I'm an affliction whore so I'm obviously going to recommend that even if it doesn't scale as well as destruction does. There is always felguard emberstorm too though in uld it might have a bit of trouble because of pets liking to die. But ultimately it's up to you practice makes perfect after all. |

I think if anyone starts calling people here noobs then Pern. or another Moderator will likely hunt him/her down & stomp on them lol. Your spell power does seem low while you are at 13.49% +hit (soft cap is 12%) you have +hit enchant on gloves but it looks like no gem though your other gear shows to be gemmed. Head item has silence duration gem in stead of threat reduction meta & the spell pen. gem is more for PvP also no head enchant (Kirin tor arcanium I think???) No shoulder (sons of hodir rep enchant)or when you get to the right skill level in inscription, back ( I use haste) or chest enchant (I use +10 all stats), you have intell. enchant on bracers ( I use spell power). Get a belt buckle & a +6 gem etc. Legs look good, you can get rep epics from the tower in the middle of dragonblight ( can't remember faction) to replace you boots as well. these are a few ideas that can help some i hope.

Re: A Warlocks Cry for help
I don't really get it, my current gear is only slightly better than yours it seems (though I am hit capped without talents and so I am 0/13/58) and I pull 2,8k dps consistenly on dummies (kept it up for 10 mins, and still wasn't low on hp or mana) and even more in most raid settings. My armory: The World of Warcraft Armory P.S. Ignore the specc, it's my solo specc.

Destruction spec only really starts to shine if you're in mimimum 2/5 T8 gear. I'd recommend that you try the hybrid spec 0/41/30 until you get better gear. You'll definately do better dps, and the Felguard is great fun to have around. I still use this spec for running heroic 5 mans as I get better dps in short fights using it.

I see a lot of incorrect information flying around. I understand you guys want to help, but at least make sure that what you say is true. Anyway, there's a lot very very wrong with your toon my friend. I'll try to list the issues; Your spec is fine and will do well in every instance/raid. Keep it. You're missing the 2 best professions: JC and Tailoring For your current spec your hit soft cap is 11%. You're way over. Lose those hit gems and put pure spell power gems in them. I'd advise 19sp gems as you obviously don't have the funds for decent enchants and epic gems. Go farm some bg's and buy epic gems from honor. Sell them and buy mats for enchants. Get a decent meta gem. Get a belt buckle. Farm heroics and buy gear from emblems. Start with the a decent trinket. Your legs should have the SP + spirit enchant. Enchant your head Enchant your cloak Enchant your bracers Enchant your gloves Enchant your staff Enchant your shoulders Try to copy this character as much as you can and you'll do great: The World of Warcraft Armory He's 1% over hitcap because he's going to replace his t8.5 hand with t9.5 hands tomorrow. Good luck, you'll have a lot of work to do Last edited by Benituccio; August 31, 2009 at 05:51 AM.. |

See, this is what's so fun about asking these questions, the controversy. If you really like destruction spec then by all means stick with it but you will absolutely not do as well as with a different spec. I personally didn't like the timer watching of affliction, I'd always raided as destruction, so I chose the hybrid spec to raid in until I was geared up. Destruction relies heavily on spellpower combined with either having a lot of crit or a lot of haste, preferably both. It scales amazing well with these, but until you get them it is a lack-lustre spec. As a bonus the hybrid spec uses a similar but simpler spell rotation to destruction so it's a good trainer for full destro. Bennituccio is right about the enchants/gems thing, you can't afford to leave these out.

Benituccio is correct. The armoury he linked is also correct and (thankfully) similar to mine although my gear isn't quite as good The World of Warcraft Armory. I see alot of warlocks running around (who are very well geared) with all the wrong decisions regarding gems. get that right in the beginning. Do not use 20 haste/crit, do not use hit gems unless you don't have the gear there, which it seems you do especially with suppression. Do not use any other gem than spell power unless the socket bonus is spell power. This is going by the most recent stat weights though i guess that does change alot. Get the right enchants and the right gems, and you will be set up well. Then all you can do is wait for better gear. You should definitely have tailoring. By all means keep inscription though, the shoulder enchant is nice. JC is a matter of choice, i didn't pick it since i didn't have mining on an alt thus it would have been too expensive to level, so with cost in mind i farmed all the herbs for alchemy before dropping herbalism and took alchemy. So i have the strange combination of alchemy and tailoring but it's all good. Last edited by Jenren22; August 31, 2009 at 06:37 AM.. |

Re: A Warlocks Cry for help
my gear is mostly badge gear with a few drops from places like eoe, naxx, voa and OS but most of it you can get from farming HCs for either drops or conquest badges. you really should have at a bare minimum enchanting i went tailoring as well as it helps to level your enchanting and there are some nice patterns in ulduar, also the ebonweave gloves and chest are good to have whilst your waiting for the badges to build up but make sure you get the specialisation in shattrath so you make 2 ebonweaves for one set of matts and cool down. |
