DPS Struggle
I have been playing a Lock since january, first toon. I thought i was progressing well. I hit a bump with the last patch with DPS, but seems most was just recount, but i did still see a change even after recount was changed. After several comments about picking up the DPS, i started to wonder if i was not performing as i should. I put on some of the deathbringer gear to get the 1st set bonus and changed talents to a more standard build. I did see an improvement but I still do not think i am doing DPS that I should be doing. Gear and talent in warcrafter(Yire <Pink Tabard> Bleeding Hollow) or armory. My rotation for long fights is COE, Immolate, Conflag, Chaos bolt, Incinerate, repeat incinerate until immolate is down and start over. Started trying to do better in watching conflag and chaos to see if they are down before immolate, instead of applying them again with immolate. Heroics seem to be a miss-mass, but i would say i average 1.5k dps. Thinking that raids are a little better example instead of heroics I ran VOA 10 last night. 3rd overall Average=2122dps 3.66m damage archovan 2487dps 375.2k damage emalon 1962dps 561.2k damage (died on koralon, we had several attempts average between 1800-2200dps when i was one of the last to die) My question is with the spec and gear what dps should i be doing? Anything glaring that needs to be changed to improve my dps? Thanks for the help Yire |

One thing that would help a bit would be to catch a second Conflagrate before the end of your first Immolate; then, Immolate, Chaos Bolt, Incinerate a few times Conflagrate, and play the cooldowns. This gets your Conflagrate used more often, which is good, since it is such a good damage/cast spell, and at certain levels of Haste allows you to have an almost static rotation. Additionally, you should be using a Life Tap Glyph, especially since you don't have Improved Soul Leech. It is suggested that the Immolate Glyph is probably the one to trade for it at the best gear levels, I am not sure at your current gear level if it is the valid choice and my brain to too foggy this morning to set up a Simcraft to figure it out. |

Thank you for the suggestion on the cloak, i was using a PVE cloak and changed it out...i will enchant the cloak when i get back on tonight. I expect Chaotic Skyflare Diamond is expensive(without looking)..if so then Chaotic Skyfire Diamond would be the alternative? I have recently tried to fit in a immo and chaos in the rotation...still working on watching everything. I have been reading on lifetype glyph, some say there is no difference. I will switch it with immolate and check the dummies. Thanks for the help. |

Would you suggest for talents the most popular listed by talentchic, now wowpopular.com: Talent Calculator - World of Warcraft I copied the build that i have now from a guildy that was doing much better than me. I am not hit capped at the moment, was until i started changing things around. Guess if i am changing talents i will see what my nit points is before i regem. Hit cap should be the most highest priority? |

Well a few things i see myself allready noted. With how easy it is now you should be farming heroics for epic gems......They make a huge difference and are not that hard to get now. Your cloak would be best off if your a tailor to put lightweave for spellpower boost or just get the 23 haste on it. Chaotic skyflare diamond i believe is what is called is a huge bonus and getting that meta to work is crucial to dps. I guess it varies but i like to put 10+ stats on my chest piece seeing as all the mats are cheap and easy to get just by doing a little farming. And if your really wanting to max dps go with best enchants for that slot only makes sense. Now with your glyphs everything is looking good except for immolate i know i have it right now. But after some convincing reads on the fourms. Its best to go with lifetap glyph but another useful thing is to have somekind of dot timer to keep everything up. Now with your rotation you should allways keep immolate up and hit everything as soon as its off cooldown. With your curse the best curse for long fights is to use curse of doom now......! If there is no other lock supporting you with CoE then its your place to use it. And to max dps during any kind of running in a fight allways use your instance dots such as corruption not doing such a huge amount of damage but it does help max dps. Everything else looks good! hope this helps in the long run. ,Jingels your friendly neighbor gnome=)  OMG...cant believe i missed this you need to take the points out of master summoner which doesnt really make sense and put them in imp soul leach!
