Early DPS and Raiding Advice
I am working my way through the twenty something levels and just had a recent run in BFD. To my dismay, I ended up just above the priest in terms of damage done. I am not sure if it is these early instances but the tanks and everyone else seem to be mowing everything down before I even had a chance to Dot some of them. Some questions: Do you Dot the mob that the tank is attacking or dot everyone involved in the fight? I tried using my tab to rotate through everyone but there are many mobs around the room and I don't want to aggro them by accident. I am mainly using Corruption, Immolate, and my wand which may be part of the issue but no one was waiting around for mana breaks. Every now and them I use AoE and I didn't use Searing Pain because of the threat. This time around, I had my Imp vs the VW as per a prior suggestion. I also have the Succubus but I didn't use her at all in raiding. |

It's been a while since I've played affliction, but I think I did something like the following at your level: Immolate + pet attack (if you've got time to cast it at the beginning, otherwise cast DoT's first), Curse of Agony, Corruption, Life Tap (If needed), Drain Life or Drain Soul depending on if you need life or shards. I think I had my action bar setup something like: 1) Immolate 2) Curse of Agony 3) Corr 4) Life Tap 5) Drain Soul 6) Drain Life 7) Drain Mana ... =Wand (which I only used if OOM) If your tank and the other dps are killing the mobs pretty quickly, I would probably just do the mob the tank attacks first, rotate through the rest of the mobs with your dots and go back to the the mob the tank is attacking and cast Immolate if you think you've got time or skip to Drain Life/Drain Soul plus Life Tap where needed. Someone who has used affliction more recently or remembers what spells were available in the 20's better might be able to offer better advice, but hopefully this helps a little. |
