Re: Low DPS is driving me crazy
I'm struggling with the same thing. I see other locks in my raids/PUGs that have consistently higher DPS than me, and most of the same gear. What to do? The World of Warcraft Armory |

DPS is very situational, but the HC target dummies are useful for direct comparison of gear and assessing rotations. It can be a little affected by random procs, but if you do it enough times, you begin to see a pattern. Actual raids are far harder and there is an element of luck to the DPS output, especially for casters. Melee seem to be topping the DPS and damage charts in our guild atm for some reason- I suppose it could be the type of fights we are doing. There are some boss fights in ToC where I can be up to 5.5-6 K DPS, and others like last night where I do 2.5 because I spend the whole fight dodging fire with a Snobold stuck to my head :P There can also be a massive difference in DPS and damage depending on party makeup, which again is why the dummies can be useful to allow you to play and get casting second nature. There can be an amazing difference in DPS depending on if you have slow or fast fingers for that fight, even on a basic rotation. Ultimately though, it's more about sustained damage, efficient target switching and staying alive and good raid leaders will notice this- I prefer to be high up on the overall damage rather than DPS. |

Re: Low DPS is driving me crazy
Hi all you WL experts I have read a lot and followed the advice given - but I'm desperet when it comes to my DPS out put. The World of Warcraft Armory And I ofc go for the rutine for Destro WL's bufs and cast's.... On a dummy I can maybe go up to 2.6 - 7 with self buffs - in Inst. as raids I'm at 3.5. I see so many other Lock claiming they can do 5 - 7 DPS - with the same stats as me - So I really need som sucheastions on how to improve? thx so mush and yours sincierly Justefied |

I'm not trying to be offensive, but if you have been reading the Warlocks Den, then you have not been comprehending much. |

Re: Low DPS is driving me crazy
I wasn't being rude actually. You claim to have read/studied the mechanics of building a Warlock, yet every gem you have is incorrect. The stickies are good for the basics. |

World of Logs - Real Time Raid Analysis I say that to, hopefully, add some credibility. Now, I do have a couple of points (tips) that are REALLY silly but which did amazing things for me. Give them a try to see how it works for you. First: get Spell Priority. That will tell you what to cast and when. It helps a lot for destro. Second: mash the button. /waits for the laughter to die down What ever the icon is that SP shows you to cast, keep hitting that button constantly. As silly as this sounds, there is a point. The interface does not really tell you precisely when you can cast the next spell. By mashing fast, the software will cast as soon as it is able. I have noticed in some fights that the interface is as much as two casts behind in showing me what is going on. The 9.9k fight linked above was done in the midst of horrific lag. I simply did not pay attention to the lag. I just had SP tell me which button to mash and mashed it fast. (Not maniac fast, but 6-8 times per second.) As n00bish as this may sound, it has made an immense difference to me. I hope that it aids you as well. GL!
