Hello im making this post because like everyone else who cant seem to control dps well im having the same problems i am geared for a lot like ToC 25 but i cant seem to manage to get my DPS to stay above 3k (in raids) and if i do its usually because i have random self buffs on that help out my crit or haste. most of the time i sit at about 2.5k-3k DPS i know it should be a lot higher then that since i have 4505 gearscore if anyone has some suggestions on what i should do please help stats are as follows: bonus damage:2024 hit rating:368 or 14.03% i do have suppression so that puts me up to 17% crit chance:26.85% haste: 330 also here is my rotation: Corruption, CoE, Life Tap, Immolate, Conflagrate, CB, then spam incinerate, then i rotate between immolate conflagrate and CB when they recharge and corruption when i need to here is the link to my character The World of Warcraft Armory |

Are you raiding with a spriest or Boomkin? because hit cap is 368 if you are which you are over so drop suppression. Your rotation is wrong also. Never use corruption unless on the run, EVER! Rotation should be CoD, Immolate, chaos bolt, conflag, inc spam. Apart from the starting rotation conflag is your first priority over all spells, then chaos bolt if immolate is up. If you use lifetap glyph use level 1 before the battle starts. It uses 520hp and gives you the buff without losing much hp. Infact fel armor will heal it within a second. As for your rotation's if you read the 90%+ of posts on these forums you will always see that Chaos Bolt is cast after Conflagrate, not before it. |

Re: Good gear...bad DPS
I actually didn't mean to type 366 and also didnt mean to type elemental shaman. Im alt tabbed at the moment and we need an elemental shaman for something we are doing at the moment. My mistake. He still needs to drop suppression as the hit cap is 368 and he is on this. As for the rotation: In your starting rotation you should use chaos bolt before conflagrate. The main reason is immolate has a delay in applying to the target and you cant press conflagrate straight away, there is a delay. Its better to use chaos bolt first only in this situation. Also this sets your conflagrate up to be reapplied as you apply your next immolate. |

Apart from what the others said about rotation and stuff, I think you would do better if you stack more SP and haste, also you can drop 5 or 6% crit for more haste |

Re: Good gear...bad DPS
I agree with Schiz (and probably 95% of everyone else) on the rotation part, so that's sorted, so lets take a look at your gear. First off start saving some triumph badges. You want the T9 gloves/legs to begin with. I presonally would go with the gloves since they are cheaper. Then start saving for the ring. I would strongly recommend you get the bracers crafted, yes you would be dropping hit rating but if you do raid with a spriest or boomkin, then you can keep suppression and drop down to 11% hit rating, 291.By dropping the hit rating you are gaining 50 haste, plus the haste from the ring, that's 100 haste overall. I would also recommend you get the Spellslinger's Slippers - Item - World of Warcraft and Sash of Ancient Power - Item - World of Warcraft, fairly cheap to make nowadays since they are ulduar recipes. That's 4 extra gem slots. Providing you can drop to 11%, i would also recommend you do this because you can then drop all those hit gems for spell power gems, or for spell power/haste gems in yellow sockets with a socket bonus of +5 or +7 spell power or more (debatable). For a blue socket unless you need the socket for the meta or the socket bonus is as stated above gem for spell power/spirit. On no account should you be gemming for spell power/crit, so get rid of that gem in your gloves and gem both sockets with +23 spell power gems. The gem for your weapon should also be +23 spell power, you don't need the socket bonus. I would highly advise you level your professions. Apart from the lightweave embroidery on your cloak, you will also gain 46 spell power from ring enchants. Your spec is fine, i would however replace your immolate glyph with the incinerate glyph. If you want to know why check the several hundred pages of thread about it on EJ. Hope this helps. |

A few people have mentioned a good starting rotation, but havn't seen anything on your steady rotation. If this is it, it is very wrong also and could be what is affecting your dps. Your steady rotation involves Incinerate spam, refreshing immolate when it goes down (not before), and using Conflag, CB, and CoD/CoE whenever they are off cooldown. As ultimo mentioned, only use Corruption when you are moving. Also, you should lifetap just before the pull when the tank call 'inc', not at the beginning of the rotation. |

Re: Good gear...bad DPS
I concur with the general advice that has been offered. For clarity, let me summarize: You have 2 issues, one is rotation. The other is gear. Rotation: Lifetap before fight for the buff, CoD/Elements (depending on raid makeup - Unholy DK or Boomkin in the raid, use CoD - otherwise apply CoE unless another lock does) Then it is Immo, CB, Conflag, Incinerate spam Then your priority is making sure Immolate has 100% uptime, Conflag is used the moment it comes off cooldown, same for chaos bolt. Spam incinerate when you don't have anything else to cast and always be casting something. Gear summary: More spellpower, more haste, don't gem for crit. And for the love of all warlocks, PLEASE get a better trinket than the Mithril Pocketwatch. ![]() Run Naxx25 for Dying Curse, Razorscale10 for Eye of the Broodmother, or OS25 for Illustration of the Dragon Soul. Shard of the Crystal Heart might not even be a bad choice depending on your badge situation because it would allow you greater flexibility in other gear/gems and give you a mini-bloodlust every 2 minutes. |
