Ok, so I'm not a scrub warlock like a lot of others. I have researched extensively into my toon, talked to the great locks on my realm, and had "screen tests" with them on the training dummies. I do about 5400k dps on the dummies, but can barely break that in 10/25 man Ulduar and ToC. The other two locks in my guild that raid always, always, do significantly more dps than I do, and I have better gear. I do understand that the only place to do some really high dps in, let’s say, Ulduar is XT, but I should be doing more all around, and it’s embarrassing and is possibly costing me a spot in our Icecrown Citadel team. So here goes: My spec is 0/14/57 and the link to the talent tree is The World of Warcraft Armory I am hit capped because I will always have a shadow priest/boomkin in my raid and a draenei in my party, eliminating the need for suppression and allowing me to do a deeper destro build. I consider my gear to be pretty good; here is my profile to look at it: WoW Heroes - World of Warcraft PvE character info & ratings Now, I have read the post about gemming for the socket bonuses. However, I don’t personally think that gemming for the sockets is going to be worth the spell damage loss. I am willing to listen to suggestions, and can remedy the gem thing easily, as I have 4 purified dreadstones and 2 reckless ametrines sitting in my bank, which would fufill the socket bonuses on any of my gear with +5 sp or more and 2 or less slots, I just don’t think the spell damage loss is worth it. If you can convince me, I would change them around in a second. I have reached the all important 500 haste threshold, I intend on getting as much as possible, but 506 is acceptable to me. Buffs: I use the firestone, flask of the frost wyrm, and the fish feast. This is in addition to all the typical raid buffs of course. And, the all important rotation: CoE (unless another lock casts it, then CoD) Wait for imp to start casting Immolate CB Conflag (I cast CB first because it takes a sec to be able to cast conflag, therefore wasting dps time) Incinerate spam until conflag is up Recast immolate (should be able to get 2 conflag casts off before immolate drops) CB ….Rinse repeat, utilizing cool downs as efficiently as possible. If I missed something let me know, I would love to have some discussions on what is holding me back. |

gear is excellent. The default destro spec has two points in improved soul leech... you might want to adjust your spec. Anyways, from what you write either it's a connection/PC performance issue, or you have to work on your performance in raids. Do you have tools that allow you to compare yourself to the other warlocks in your raids? Comparing immolate uptimes and the amount of spells cast in a fight might help you to identify where you could improve. Try reduce movement time etc... Life Tap when you have to move or when you can't dps for some other reason. Finally, keep in mind that high dps can also be a sign of not doing what you are supposed to do... e.g. staying on the boss instead of dps'ing adds will usually result in higher dps... but is not good for the raid :D |

So what tools are we speaking of? Also, I did some work with a person in my guild on my computer: updated my graphics drivers, eliminated some addons not used in the raid, turned off my combat log, and turned off all display names. I was made aware by that person that lag could be the problem but it's a problem with game lag(setting/addons), not my PC, thank goodness. I adjusted these things after our weekly raids were over so I have a few days to see if these changes will help. I would love to get those tools you were talking about so I can see exactly what the difference is between myself and those other two locks.

well... your damage meter can usually already tell you all this information, i.e. recount/skada. If you want more time to study individual fights you can make a combatlog and upload it e.g. on worldoflogs or wowmeteronline (google the names to find them). It can be pretty surprising when a lock with the same haste manages to cast 20 additional incinerates throughout a fight... and then one can try to figure out what oneself did spend those casts on ;) |

ive been having the same problems and im pretty much endgame geared also. Ive been told to watch out for clipping my immolate and just want to point out that this may be a possible problem also. I was just wondering if clipping your immolate a split second too early once in a while can have a drastic effect on your overall dps? I have also questioned whether my lag coupd be an issue and people have replied that it can be a major issue. So i went and kept recount lag chart up live while doin raid and it dosnt seem to go over 300fps however i definitely notice some signs of the video not running as smoothly cause of all the aoes and commotion goin on. I have a pretty good computer and graphics card but still show signs of graphical crapiness so to speak. Would turning off some of the visual effects help this and dps and if so which ones. I'm not trying to step on your post im just trying to come to a conclusion that may help us both. In my case i know my rotation is correct and im doin pretty good at getting a number of spells off cause my activity is always up there in top 4 or 5 but my dps dosnt seem to agree with it. |

Re: Great gear, correct rotation and low DPS?
i gained about 500 dps when i started "precasting". basically this amounts to frantically mashing the button to cast the next spell during the current ones cast time. it comes pretty close to eliminating all questions of lag

A casting bar addon can help in case of excessive lag. @warluck why can't you stick to your own threads if you have further questions? |

So I went out and got quartz..awesome. It helps me see just how much I'm lagging when I cast spells. So, last issue, I would love to post something from world of logs, BUT, I turned off my combat logs to try to cut down my lag. So, I don't think I can use any log site. Is this correct? And if so, I want to turn them back on for maybe one fight and I can't figure that out .And by the way, all your help has helped me beat 1 of the 2 mages that are constantly #1 and #2 on our dps/damage meters. And along that line, I was told that if your dps was higher than your damage, you are not spending enough time on target or something is this correct? Last nights raid in Uld 25 hard modes, I was #2 on the dps meter and #5 on the damage meter. (This is OVERALL not per fight, which might be the problem) Funny thing is i'm #2 on dps and damge meter on trash when i glance down at it ![]() So help i'm looking for: Do I need my combat logs (have recount) for worldoflogs and if so, how do I turn my combat logs back on and if your dps is higher than your damage is that bad and why/how do I fix it? |

Re: Great gear, correct rotation and low DPS?
If you are only looking to log one fight, just type /combatlog as everybody is buffing for that fight. As soon as the boss is dead type /combatlog again to stop it. Once I upload a log, I always zip and delete the original file as well. |

Ok, so I logged the majority of fights I did last night. I missed 25man ony and 25man toc-northrend beasts, but I got everything else. Here is the link, tell me what you think. Especially look at the difference in my dps in the 25 mans vs the 10 mans. WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay |
