Need your advice....
Hi, After spending a couple weeks reading through lots of posts related to my problems, i found quite a few things that have helped me but I'm still having issues so I thought I'd go ahead and throw up a post anyways. My issue is the ever so popular: good gear but DPS is not as it should be. im a destro 25 man raiding lock. our 25 man always includes a moonkin/sp/draneis. my dps is normally around 5000-5500k, other locks equally geared/specced as me are in the 6-7k range. I'm always having to fight for more than 5500k. Notes: *my hit at the moment is overcapped (becuase of the moonkins/SPS) but once i replace my living flame trinket i will be just right below hit cap. *gemming: i have been going for straight out +sp gems with 2 blue (sp+stam) gems to fit criteria for meta gem. one of the things i read on this forums is to go for a 500 haste base before going for a all out +sp gems. i have currently 2452 SP unbuffed but only 409 haste which is where i have been using spellstone instead of firestone which gives me approx 450ish haste. now, a question is...... is it a good idea to drop some of my sp gems to add in haste gems to obtain the 500 haste base OR stay with what ive been doing? (spellstone gem) same thing about crit... ive read that you need 25% crit base. I only have 23%.. should i drop some +sp for +crit to get 25%. *I don't clip my CDs.. however... i know i SHOULD be getting 2 conflags off before refreshing immo. Sometimes Im able to sometimes I'm not. I dont know exactly the perfect formula for this. Is there one?? *lag... i dont lag much. i have 90% of my addons plus damage meters turned OFF during 25 man raids. The addons I keep on are: DBM, OmniCC (CD time watcher), Needtoknow (buffwatcher)... Now I'm not sure if these addons might suck and be "off" and affecting my DPS. I like them but I could be ignorant to not knowing that they dont work well or whatnot. *I currently dont have the Kel'Thuzad tier 2 set bonus yet I still have the Conquerer's 2 set bonus and I'm "next" in line for a trophy next time we go in 25 man TOC and ive got the badges ready and will get my 2nd piece which will give me a 4 pc bonus (from 2 diff tiers) This should help, HOPEFULLY!!  I'll be geting the helm and getting rid of Nemesis Skullcover.I don't really know what else..... please check out my gear/spec/glyphs (ignore the point in shadowfury-- that will be removed soon, some dumb lock told me to go for it and that i would see a 500dps increase in my dps.. "its another instant spell!"=horrible advice) and if theres anything you can see that might help fix my issue please do tell. Thanks so much :D Update: I got my 2nd KelThuzad tier piece tonight.. so now i have both 2sets from both tiers. |

I've also posted a similar concern the other day and i tried to explain it myself by asking about effective player spell casting. I was assured i was perfectly able to spam 4 buttons so i moved on.... But to my surprise, last night we ran TotC25 and there i was again feeling extremely frustrated and cornered: an undergeared lock guildie was constantly outdpsing me by a maximum of 800-900 (4.5k me him 5.3k, 5.4k). I had better sp - full buffed getting 3.2k, haste 480, crit 28% Well to my surprise later on i realised his position: right in the middle of totems. As soon as i was heading my way to him i started outdpsing him - the bonus crit and haste from totems really made the difference As a conclusion: dont be stupid like myself and rememeber that the most objective comparison is the one in front of the dummy, the 2 of you, self buffed and start the contest |

learn to watch your buffs, then you notice when you are out of range of the totems. No need to stand in the middle of them. concerning the crit/haste requirements... it's nice to sit at 500 haste, but it's not something that decides whether your dps will be good. Concerning the 25% crit requirement, please give me a link to all posts that say this so I can tear them apart. The 25% crit is a relic of The Burning Crusade times... the T9 set bonus should help you. Other than that, I don't know. Do you spend a lot of time not casting or something? |

im disappointed. i finally got my 2 piece t9 bonus.... yet my dps on the dummy remains the exact same!!! 4500ish only with self buffs. :( and no lilstseele.. i am a button spammer, i dont stand around doing im always casting. immo> choas> conflag> inicerateX4ish> conflag> inicerate> chaos> inicerateX?? etc. also keeping life tap up of course. i used to add in corruption but i stopped doing doing that as it didnt really seem to do much for my dps. also it cuts out time for an extra inicerate here and there. i also try to stay near totems and the boomkins to ensure i get the buffs. thoughts? inputs? |
