Unhappy damsel in distress... bad DPS!

Hi all,

Have been reading this board and others (for a couple of months) to tweak my lock to be efficient in raids but somehow I still cap around 2.4 in a 10 men raid.

I play destro spec and I think my gear is all right (still place to improvement tho): The World of Warcraft Armory

Buffs:
I use the firestone, flask of the frost wyrm, the fish feast and scroll of spirit VIII. This is in addition to all the typical raid buffs of course.

we dont have a shadow priest/boomkin in my raid so I did take 3 points in suppression.

Rotation:
Life tap (while getting in place)>Immolate> Curse of Agony> Conflagrate>Chaos Bolt>Incinerate (spam until conflagrate or immolate is up)

I have to to cast 2 conflagrate before restarting the sequence.

I cast corruption only when am moving

APPs:
a casting bar addon

Hope I havent forget anything.

Open to any suggestions to improved my DPS and thank you for taking the time to help me with this.

Re: damsel in distress... bad DPS!

Read the stickies here in this forum, in particular Read before asking help about bad dps , then do the following:

1. Change your destro spec to one of the default builds... they are the best
2. Fix all your gems. Only the chest and shoulders are gemmed properly, all other gems are totally wrong.
3. Remove Curse of Agony from your rotation, replace it with CoD (or CoE if noone else is providing the buff)
4. Realize that there's no real rotation, use all abilities on cooldown, keep immolate up. You're doing it mostly correct though

I'm not sure what you have been reading, or where you've been reading it, but your spec, gems and enchants are for the most part wrong.

Re: damsel in distress... bad DPS!

well my toon look that way after reading way too much I think lol

like I said I have tried so many combinaison, as of now this is the result of tweaking to get a hit rating at 17% (gems wise) but depending where you read, some says to do anything you can to have that rate or here, to not itemize towards this percentage... well its a bit confusing.

as for rotation well some says to do Curse of Agony instead of CoD.... ?!?!

I think I will restart from scratch again and try to forget everything I read

thanks for the replies

Re: damsel in distress... bad DPS!

Some general tips as you read for more specifics:

If you're new or unsure, best to stick to the cookie-cutter specs. They're so popular because they work. In the case of Destro: 0/13/58 or 3/13/55.

You want (in gear, gems, enchants) Hit > SP > Haste > Spirit > Crit in that order of priority. You don't need MP5

1. Never gem for MP5, that is 100% incorrect

2. Never gem for straight spirit, if you need a blue gem go for the 12 spellpower 10 spirit gem

3. Never gem for crit, only for haste, until you do not need HIT.

4. In your belt, seeing as you added a gem socket (which is good), drop a 23 spellpower gem in there since you do not need to fill a socket bonus

5. Try to get abyssal rune from Reg ToC, much better trinket than the darkmoon card one

6. Put the 50 Spellpower 30 Spirit tailoring enchant on your legs

As many have said your spec is ALL wrong, you don't have demonic aegis, you don't have fel intelligence, you don't put points into improved Curse of Agony and you don't need points in Soul Leech if you need hit right now, once you become hit capped, then you can re-arrange your talents to make room for Soul Leech + Imp Soul Leech

Like Fiz Said, 3/13/55 is your best bet, although for your gear or w/e I would put 1 point in Soul Link and take it out of shadowfury.

Hope this helps, you got any other questions/concerns lay em on us locks, we'll help ya out
