I am interested in seeing some DPS for 25 man hard mode Anub Arak. My guild has finally downed him last week and we stack a lot of melee... like... A LOT. We usually on bring 1 warlock for this fight because the DPS is alright until P3 hits. Then it plummets and we are rendered useless. I'd like to maybe see some charts of warlocks who overcame that or hear advise on how to not be on the bottom of the charts with 6-7k DPS. It's not just me. It's the other warlocks in the guild too.

If anything your DPS should be best during P3. Your overall DPS will not be as good as melee if your missing important caster buffs but P3 should definitely be your highest peak. I could see some classes outshining Warlocks in the quick burns since we don't really have any cooldowns but you should still be doing solid DPS. |

Re: Anub Arak.
25man heroic is completely different than 10man heroic, or 25man normal. Leaching Swarm on heroic means that the raid is going to be at minimal health pretty much the entirety of p3. Which means you can't life tap very often (if at all) because you have low health. So mana is the issue. One of the best specs for this fight is Meta, and its a mana intensive spec to be. Just make sure that you're at full mana going into p3, use your healthstone and tap it into mana, use a mana pot even. The only time I found that you can regain mana is when you get Penetrating Cold and are getting heals, but even that is a risky proposition. WoW Meter Online - Combatlog Replay |

For some reason hard modes tend to totally break any class balance that seems to work out in WoW. While in Ulduar this often worked in favor of warlocks (hodir, vezax, yogg) it seems that ToC is working the other way round. Melee classes can do hell loads of damage when adds are being tanked close to the boss, since basically they always hit two targets with a single ability. If you look at ToC fights, thats at least the case for Jaraxus and Anub, and to some extent also on Faction Champions and Northrend Beasts. Now anub doesn't have any ability that would make stacking melee disadvantageous (like chain lightning would do e.g.), so you can fully exploit this. The first kill reports I've seen had quite a few ret-paladins, DK's and rogues with 10k+ dps covering the first 5-8 places in the meters. My guild is quite heavy on caster dps. We're at Twins right now, so maybe in 1-2 weeks I'll be able to share some more experience. On the pro side, I think as people are gearing up the dps requirements become less stringent than for those guilds that go for world-first kills. I've looked at some 10 reports on WorldOfLogs and found a single report with two warlocks, all others had just one, and all of them at most in the middle of the charts, more towards the lower end. Mages seem to be the only casters that can compete with melee on that fight. |

Re: Anub Arak.
My raid is also melee heavy and I'm having a lot of trouble competing in dps during all the fights of ToGC 10m, except TV. I suppose this is due to lack of caster buffs and fight advantages for melee like stated previously. Frustrating, but not much we can do except beg our GM for a boomkin. |

My guild needs a Boomkin and a Resto druid badly. It pains me to know that we don't have either in our 25 mans. |

I have been doing meta in heroic 25man anub and have been fine with P3 for as long as we last in it. I think the soul link helps a lot mitigating the extra damage. Getting back some mana with life tap in p3 is more doable with soul link active to mitigate other damage. I am always cognizant of when we will enter p3 and make sure I am life tapped to full around entering it so I cannot say it's been an issue for me Meta does help pull some pretty good AOE DPS though for sure. It's definitely a fun fight for me. |
