No 10 or 25 man content and I'm sitting at 465. Looking to shed some hit on my next few gear upgrades. Getting hit capped is not hard. Look at the Mr. Wolf thread and put some effort into it.

Re: Hit Rating From Gear

As I said, I looked at the guide, and most of the hit item upgrades are in 25 man nax. Other than taking downgrades in gear to get it, it seems like the gem/helm enchant are my only option. I could swap out my gloves for the ebonweave, but personally don't think (other than hit rating) that they are better. Maybe I am wrong, but it doesn't appear to be. I could get the T7 gloves, bu they really aren't much better than the the ones I got or ebonweave (which might actually be better) than them.

Here is a comparison. Ebonweave is the only set with Hit Rating. Still kills me that warlock T7 gear (gloves) doesn't have a spec of hit rating, yet its a major part of our makeup, more so than critical strike.

Assuming you have separate trash gear and boss gear, just get the ebonweave gloves and swap those in for boss fights. You should hit the soft spell cap if the boomkin is there. If you want the full spell cap then you can also obtain the ebonweave robe and swap that in for bosses as well. The amount of gold for these two is fairly steep, but obtaining them is guaranteed since you don't have to pray for good drops.

Do people actually do that? I'm one of the people from the 'trash doesn't matter' (except for farming shards) school of thought, so of course the idea of having a separate gear set for trash sounds ridiculous to me. But I know some of you take trash very seriously. Still, seriously enough to have a separate gear set? I could understand swapping a trinket, although I personally wouldn't bother.

A lot of my hit comes from my Ebonweave Robes and Gloves. I don't use +hit trinkets. My spellpower is right below 2000 with fel armor on (i'm affliction).

My hit floats at around 330ish. If I'm ever lucky enough to actually be invited to a 10man when I'm on, then I just eat some Snapper Extreme (+40hit) to get capped. They just introduced a new recipe, too, Worg Tartare or something like that has the same effect.

But if you're having real problems, there are two massive +hit trinkets you can get- Rune of Infinite Power comes from one of the last quests in dragonblight, and Mark of the War Prisoner comes from Heroic Violet Hold. Each of them gives you over +50 hit

Of course, why wouldn't you? I carry a dps set & a hit cap set (although as my gear gets better there are fewer pieces I need to swap out).

It doesn't make sense to say 'trash doesn't matter' - the faster you clear trash, the faster the raid goes. The additional dps I get from, say swapping out ebonweave for spellweave, is worth the bag space and the 10th of a second I have to switch outfitter sets.

If you raid enough, you'll find that you eventually collect enough pieces to do so. Just keep pieces with a very high amount of hit but are not optimal for your slot. You don't have to go out of your way to do it, but be mindful of what you shard/vendor when you replace an item.

Not only having a trash sat for raid trash, but also for running heroics, where you only need 58 hit, talented. Why waste all that hit when you can up your spell power, crit and haste. I use item rack to switch between them.

Re: Hit Rating From Gear

Sorry guys, but you aren't going to convince me that the difference between my seeds & RoF with a "trash set" (or even more mind boggling heroic set) actually contribute any meaningful speed increase to trash going down. Maybe if your raid is in blues and crafteds then squeezing out some extra aggregate dps might make a difference, although after a couple weeks trash goes down so fast it doesn't matter. But that is a philosophical difference between you and me (on the topic of trash importance) and we aren't going to see eye to eye anytime soon.

So that leaves convenience and bagspace. I guess if trash dps does matter to you then it's convenient enough to switch with that addon someone mentioned. What about bag space? I set ShardAce to delete anything over 32 shards, and I still find myself low on bagspace a lot. Especially if I'm DE'ing for the night.

In any event, as far as my question went I got an answer: some of you actually do switch gear between trash and bosses. Now I know.

Re: What's the Hit cap Mr. Wolf?

I dont have a trash set and a boss set. I do have a raid set and a soloing set. Soloing set basically consists of the 4 piece tier set for the life tap bonus.

If you go over the hit cap does it negate the dps hit gives?
