If you are going to be dotting multiple mobs at once, why did you skip over Jinx? I'm thinking one point in Jinx would be fine as the mobs will mostly be punching you in the face, rather than standing 20-40 yards away needing 2 points in the talent.

Theres some great questions there.

Im a beliver that you should play what you have the most fun with.

As for me, at this point in time, i think ill be going demo, due to the fact that im getting back into playing my warlock. The gear is not good enough for burst and affliction has too many buttons and concentration required on keeping up the dots (even though i have downloaded forte mod).
Trusty felguard will help me get to 85, easiest option for me. Ill be hitting wow-popular for a demo spec, and as far as rotations ill fumble with it. as long as i have something on the mobs and life tap, siphon life and health funnel going with a few dots i should be okay.
CC should be fun later on, but for now im running instances relearning class, fixing mods and general farming/ganking when required.

As mentioned there are a few posts in the beta section that should be read, to get a better idea of how you can best approach CATA

Just want you to notice that Diivil (warlock of Paragon, realm_first lvl80 and... hey, you really don't know who he is?! impossibile) just changed his spec into this(31/5/0) (so, omg omg, i guess he'll be running with a felhunter)
...and apparently he is ready to go, with a rep-tabard equipped
...and, interesting enough, he has equipped a [Ember Skyflare Diamond] as meta-gem

Here we have our answer, if he says that's the best spec then that's the best spec!

Be willing to bet he's using that Meta gem purely because he was already all red gemmed and was easier to use that meta rather then switch around his gems to get the chaotic skyflare one working again. (more blues then reds crap.)

If you're trying to get realm first, then you should spec into something that will be literally "non-stop."

If you aren't trying to get realm first, go with something you will have fun with.

Just because Paragon's warlock is specced into it doesn't really mean anything; after all, we will be going back to leveling.

As for the Meta, it's because it's easier to activate at the moment and a waste of gold to re-gem for the Chaotic.

I'll be going for an affli pvp ish spec purely because I've always enjoyed leveling as affliction.
I'm quite sure either tree will get you fast to 85 if you know how to play your lock.

Demo here with improved health funnel. You can solo about anything I have found when on beta. As what others noted, play what is fun. I have a great group of friends to level with so I may just go affliction because I like the play style but demo is always fun to play.

No, soul swap saves valuable time, namely the time to re-cast UA. I still find affliction my favourite spec and shall be levelling using it.

While I think all 3 Lock specs are cool, I just feel like an affliction lock, and I love playing it. gonna use my usual oddball questing spec balancing PVP and Questing for anti-ganking on my pvp realm. dot and CoEx kite tons of mobs at once.
