Re: Guild Wars
It sucks. Don't do it. While the graphics are undoubtedly beautiful, the game play stinks. Here are some things I found while playing it that annoyed the heck out of me and made me run back to WoW:
CONS: 1. You can't jump. At all. This also means no running off cliffs (or anything else for that matter). It ruins the otherwise gorgeous environment by making it feel A LOT less three-dimensional. It's funny how something so little can have that big of an effect. This would also mean no flying mounts since it appears travel is only in an X-Y plane; no Z. 2. The entire world outside of the cities is instanced. Meaning you and your group are in it with the NPC's and no one else. You'll never run into random players in the world outside town or have any chance at real world PVP. 3. The quests and story lines feel hokey to me. It's not like WoW where most quests are relatively straight forward and easy to figure out... it's a little vague in Guild Wars in my opinion. It makes me not want to play it... I can't see myself getting anywhere close to addicted with Guild Wars. Maybe that's a good thing, but I'll leave it up to you. PROS: 1. Free of monthly subscription. You buy it and create a free account and you're playing. 2. Beautiful graphics and environment. It's quite realistic, not cartoony like WoW. |

Re: Guild Wars
This was seriously the most irritating thing about this game to me. It was always, "OK, I can go around this 10-pack of monsters. Oh, no, wait, there's a stump there, can't jump that, go this way instead. Oops, there's a rock there, can't go over it. Oh, that clump of grass is too tall, can't walk over it." The game pretty much forces you to a designated path.

Re: Guild Wars
Guild Wars was my introduction to MMORPG's. I loved it at first and then my friend gave me a free trial to WoW. Game over. WoW is much more dynamic and fun IMO.
GW does has beautiful graphics, but has a level 20 cap which I didn't like. I've heard GW2 has come out, but I don't know anything about it yet. |

Re: Guild Wars
It's not really the same type of game as warcraft. It is an RPG, but kinda diffrent. I don't know what's the term for it. The main difference is that everything is done in instances, the whole world. You can only meet new players in towns/outposts. It focuses on PvP from what I saw. It's fun and cheaper than WoW, but I still prefer WoW by far. It also has very very few quests.
