Re: Guild Wars

It's a rough game, they had the idea of a specific sort of team PvP environment and glued on incredibly weak storylines to add PvE to it. The PvP play is high-end and fairly sophisticated.

The storyline gets weaker and weaker, the best part is the starter area.

I had too many 20s and the Faction upgrade. Many areas are not only instanced, but you can't even travel solo without getting slaughtered. So, you are forced to have henchmen.

Upside is the PvP, and their skill and class system. You can have 150+ different spells in each class. You have one permanent primary class, and can change your second class. The kicker is that you can only have 8 spells available at a time for the whole time you are outside of a city; choosing those spells is a big challenge.

Equipment is flat, there is no room for twinking, or putting in hours and hours to get better gear than the next guy. Getting max gear is trivial.

Re: Guild Wars

I like GuildWars and still log in on Tuesdays

I don't think it should be compared to WoW or replace a game like WoW.
For me it has a very casual feel and it's something I consider fun to play now and then. In other words, it's better then minesweep when WoW is down!

Re: Guild Wars

used to play eq. gave gw a try since had a few friends that played. got to level 13 and couldnt solo anymore. and at that time everyone was way past that content so couldnt get group to advance so gave up. tried the instant level 20 pvp gameplay but couldnt really see the fun in it whereas wow bgs you get tokens and hks that you can use to buy stuff.

cant be classified as a mmorpg imo.

Re: Guild Wars

well ok but the instant teleportation makes the world feel a whole lot less massive.

Re: Guild Wars

Well, massive means that a lot of players play it, not that the world is huge, but I could be wrong.
