Re: Compy Help
You mention your laptop has a Radeon 9000 card in it. Given that an Inspiron is a notebook, I'm going to assume it's a 9000 mobility processor. That, right there, is going to be a major problem. If you have all other apps closed down, 1GB of RAM will be fine. As a comparison, I run on my work PC with 768MB RAM and a few programs running in the background. I don't ALT+TAB out of it, but I can play WoW pretty reliably.
The thing is that you're probably hitting a video performance issue, and being a laptop, you don't have many options for upgrading it, except to get a new laptop or a desktop. |

Re: Compy Help
Swoops right, your issue is the ATi 9000.
If you have not already turn down the resolution that you are playing wow with, turn down most of the settings to low and you should see a performance increase in your UI. Find a Frames Per Second mod for your wow interface and it will tell you how many FPS your running 20-30 is fine, any lower than that are you should be looking to upgrade your pc. If your pc has only started to perform like this, it might be time to rebuild your OS, there could be things in the memory that are memory resident and wont go away till you make a clean install of XP and wow. |

Re: Compy Help
If you run the standard UI (or haven't completely replaced the bars etc with a mod like Bongos or something) then the new latency indicator as of 2.1 also shows your FPS and mod memory usage. Quite handy for a quick indication of how your computer is performing.

Re: Compy Help
yep, everything is minimized, im running 800 x 600 (lol) and my memory is dedicated to WoW. Graphics are all set to performance - nothing is quality so i get alot of clipping.
I guess its time to upgrade.... damn. P.S. Thanks for the replies. |
