Re: Hacking @ Thottbot?
Honestly, if you're browsing the internet, and something pops up that says "Danger, your computer <insert some threatening sounding issue>, click here to install the fix / cleaner / security program", your first response should be to close down any and all windows and shut down your browser.
Never ever ever ever install programs that randomly throw themselves at you from the web. Trust your anti-virus / spyware scanner that you installed deliberately, and nothing else. If you don't have anti-virus or spyware protection, get it now! |

Re: Hacking @ Thottbot?
My anti-spy ware performs a scan for security threats as a web page opens. So far (knock on wood) I have had no problems. But as Murphy's law goes I will now that I have said I don't!

Re: Hacking @ Thottbot?
Are you sure you got the official thottbot? there are 1-2 versions that are keyloggers the name looks almost identical untill you look more closely.
Cant remember the exact names but you might wanna check the adress line, to make sure its spelled correctly. |

Re: Hacking @ Thottbot?
The worst spyware now is the stuff the gaming companies ship with their games. Stuff like Sony's Securom has the ability to constantly monitor your PC activity for marketing purposes and report back to its host and cannot be removed from your PC even if you uninstall the game that orignally hosted it.
It is currently secretly installed by a number of games including Bioshock and Medieval Totalwar Kingdoms, but may also be backfilled as part of a patch upgrade to other games which did not orignally include it. Check out http://www.securom.com/ |
