Sad day for me
Well I log on yesterday to find out that my RL best friend/guildmate has deleted his character. This has been kinda tough to handle we usually ran together in instances/raids. We leveled our characters to 70 at the same time, I knew he always had my back in pvp. I feel like I lost my friend. I know it sounds stupid but when you spend so much time in a game with someone it's tough when they stop playing. His roomate also plays and didn't delete his character but I see it coming in the future. I still enjoy playing without them but it's alot more fun having your real friends to play with in game.

Re: Sad day for me
Sure, on the blush it sounds silly, but people forget that these toons are controlled by real people. You can build a friendship with someone through their toon, it's just as real as a friendship someone has with a 'pen pal' they never meet. Then, for them to drop off the game without knowing how to contact them is a bummer. When I took a break and canceled my account, I in-game mailed my buddy and told him my email address. Waited a few days, then killed the account.
On the same token, this is where people like me get real pissed when some keyboard bada** starts mouthing off. They forget that there's a real person on the other side of the keyboard they're addressing. Just because you cant see the person doesn't make them any less real nor does it give you an excuse not to use the common decency you extend to people you come face to face with. |

Re: Sad day for me
That is sad! My boyfriend froze his account a couple months ago. He's the only reason why I was playing to begin with! And we always quested and pvp'ed together. At first I felt a little lost without my permanent back-up, in battlegrounds we always topped the damage charts because we looked out for each other and that's not easy to find in pug situations. He guided me through everything, from learning quests to which guild I was in.
While he was playing, I made a lot of friends that were his friends, too... and I've recieved a lot of support from them since he's been gone. Of course, they are always asking when he's coming back, too . Also, I have since made new in-game friends that I can rely on and have alot of fun with them... but I still haven't stepped into a battleground. It's good that he's your real life friend, too, so you know he'll always be around. I do feel your pain, but don't worry! You'll still find ways to enjoy the game! |
