Re: Warhammer

I will most definetely try it out since I used to play Warhammer and WH40K and the Warhammer fluff is awesome, but the biggest reason for why I'm gonna try it is that it is something new, in wow everything has been done and there is something that is considered "The Best" in almost every part of the game. When a new patch comes out some tosser will do it before you be sure of that and soon everyone is just grinding for some epic just to be able to run the next instance...

Not saying that WAR will be different but atleast I can level my character without the common consent of what is best and when I reach max level I can simply just stop playing or go back to wow

I will roll a Dark Elf Black Guard and I will strike fear inte the hearts of the Asur!

That's kind of the appeal for me. Even though I've only been playing WoW for a relatively short time, familiarity breeds contempt quickly. I love wow, but an alternative wouldn't be so bad.

New Characters, class dynamics, environment. I just hope EA doesn't screw it up as many have pointed out may happen.

Warhammer is the pwntits. Looks like a good pvp rvr system with plenty of character flexibilty. I will be looking forward to rolling my toon sometime in 2010 when it gets released

I started hearing about this game over 2 years ago. Total vaporware, imo.

Re: Warhammer

Maybe about time to revive this thread

Well, a lot of information about WAR can be obtained from the official Website and also from other common MMO Portals. But i still sum up what i learned so far:

1) WAR had to give up the approach of finishing the game in peace and releasing when its ready. They probably get a lot of pressure from their money-givers and at this moment plan to go live before 2009.

2) From what can be heard from the Beta-players the game is in a bad state and far from finished, so we will probably face another release of an unfinished game like AoC.

3) In order to be able to go live at all, they have dropped four classes and 2/3 of the PvP content, starting the game with a very reduced set of content.

4) First rumors say the game may even go live in the end of September.

5) There will be no open Beta which is free for all. They will lift the NDA at some point but still allow only a handful of players on the servers before going live.

6) people like me who play Warhammer for about 25 years surely cant wait for this game to go live, but with the latest information this could well end in disaster like AoC

7) Of course it is still possible that they decide to stop the project altogether rather than publishing a half-ready game, but i really really hope it doesnt come to that point - i was already incredible dissapointed when they stopped Warhammer Online for the first time in 2004 .

Re: Warhammer

Some thoughts here. My faith in EA has dwindled over the years into what I now politely call loathing for that company. They have managed to screw up everything they touch, and their greed is legendary. Yes, all companies are out to make money, that is of course what they are in business for. However, EA has taken it to a new level, completely ignoring the requests of their consumers by releasing crap games, the same sports games with roster updates, and general disregard for anyone who buys their product. I will not be a part of anything they make or are involved with, but good luck to those that try out Warhammer Online.

As for AoC, I tried getting into the BETA for months but was never contacted. It kind of frustrated me, but life goes on. I actually preordered the game as well, but after it delayed again I canceled my order and have not bothered with it since. I hear the release was buggy and the customer support was lacking.

I was in the BETA for LOTRO last year but decided to stick with WoW. I recently started playing it again and am enjoying it. I almost quit WoW for it, but decided not to, instead I will just try playing both for awhile and see how that goes .

Summary: stay away from Warhammer as long as EA is involved with it.

Re: Warhammer

I plan on buying this game and giving it at least its one month to try and get me hooked.

My biggest problem with it right now is the fact they cut 4 of the 6 cities. I'm trying to imagine WoW without Stormwind or the Undercity when the game went live. They say that they can focus on the last 2 cities, and buff them up, but I get the impression that it may be lacking.

Re: Warhammer

Whether I try it or not depends on the gap from WAR going live and Wrath going live. < 3 months probably not. > 4 months I likley will just for something new to do.
